  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any Possibility of a Scarlet Update?

... 'Till what? More Epic news, that's what. I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for Scarlet info at NAB. CES might be a more likely candidate, but let's hope for Scarlet fixed in Sept. I'm expecting to have to wait until winter for S35. :-(

I'd be surprised if RED put any priority to Scarlet. I know it'll come, eventually but from the RED perspective, the Scarlet is aimed at the low end of the market. It would seem to me that everyone not named RED is trying to compete at the lower end of the spectrum.

It's starting to look like the EPIC rules the day. Either way, I'll be tuned in to any announcements, hoping that the Scarlet is on track for 2010. Not holding my breath though.
 
I certainly hope its coming this year, even if its not I would like to see some footage of it, but I'm not expecting to see any tomorrow. Sure it'll be all EPIC and MX talk.
 
scarlet is just a scaled down version .. so any time progress is made on epic it directly affects scarlet

scarlet wont have as many features, framerates, redcode options but will be using all the same post tools that epic will use so download cine - x 2 and get some practice

also there was an announcement made that red has a reseller in asia as well

i doubt they would need re seller for the 7000+ epics being sold but maybe the 20000+ scarlets will

read between the lines

Jim also stated Scarlet is only slightly behind Epic .. he also said Epic will be out in july/august to stage 2 ..
 
Here's some Scarlet news: August/September is the new timeframe. First they were saying april/may, then may/june, then summer, then july/august, now august/september. Everyone says if you can't wait, then buy something else. But I don't have that kind of money to spend! I'm stuck with my archaic camera that can't produce a half decent image until RED ships the Scarlet, and what I started out hoping to have by Summer 2009, is seemingly not going to be available to non Red One owners until 2011! There's nothing I can do except sadly wait for RED to decide to merely address the issue.
 
I really think a 550D is the way to go for most in your situation.... resell it in the 6-12 months you are likely to wait (remember, it is a good stills camera... so should hold value).

At worst, you'll lose a few hundred $s... and gain some great experience.
