  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any chance that we will have an access of Nikon Mount....???

I'd agree! Prefer to have a Nikon mount myself

or better yet an e mount which could be adapted to mount pretty much anything... And the ability to use a speedbooster to help with the sensor's crop factor

Nikon would suit those users leaving RED MX systems and looking for the lightness and modern touches that the Raven offers. Interesting to see the battle royale between Raven and Ursa Mini that will no doubt ensue. Especially considering the Ursa mini packs a PL mount option (ouch).

Don't you think that you can use Nikon - canon adapter in that case. But i also would prefer a Nikon Mount.

Yeah, my initial reaction to RAVEN was, "WOW, this could really be THE B camera for me down the line but it will be an entirely different animal." Then I realized it wasn't going to work with my Nikons! You make a good point on the Nikon - canon adapter though! Never used one before, would prefer a Nikon mount too! I'm sure it will come with time!

Yup. Disappointed. I don't think Nikon users are very vocal, and RED follows the market demand. I remember the same thing happened when the Epic/Scarlet were released, the Nikon mount came much later, so maybe a Raven/Nikon will come late next year.

Honestly, not sure why RED decided to go with a fixed Canon mount here instead of making it exchangeable with the current mount systems people have already.

I wouldn't hold my breath on the Nikon mount Raven. If you look in the Epic/Scarlet manuals and compare the Canon vs. Nikon supported lenses you will soon realize that Red does not support it's Nikon customers to nearly the extent it does Canon customers. It is a bit disappointing to have invested 3K in my Nikon TI and AL mounts with the level of Nikon support offered by Red. Generally speaking, I quite prefer the Nikon glass to Canon. Nikon stakes their reputation on optics, Canon has stakes their reputation on copiers and DSLR camera bodies with wonderful features. Raven is obviously targeted for DSLR (Canon owners) who have obsoleting camera bodies with glass investments. Good business model.

Come on, Red. You can do it. You make fantastic cameras. Please support your Epic/Scarlet customers who have invested in your cameras/ Nikon mounts by making a better effort for the professional grade AF-s glass. I have been asking for support for the stellar 20mm 1.8 AF-s for nearly two years (to include offering my copy to Red for mapping), but so far only the sound of crickets.

I don't expect a Nikon Raven to happen but it would be great! I sort of assumed that the (rumored) Weapon-y Scarlet will be the next Nikon option. I love my G primes on Dragon. Feels like working with Ultra Primes. I also have a full set of non-Ai Nikkor primes all from pre 1979 ranging from 20mm - 200mm.

No, I do think it will happen eventually as they think it through but it may take a while! Perhaps even on a BETTER SECOND GENERATION RAVEN! I'm OK with that as I'm STILL using my first "dumb" Nikon mount on Scarlet Dragon #00123 (with circa 1977 Nikon glass and earlier!) which was made long before RED ever made their Nikon mounts for Scarlet/Epic! I know I certainly won't stop investing in Nikon glass in either case though, as this is a big part of what steered me toward RED initially!

Just slip a Nikon F to Canon EF adapter on each and every one of your lenses, they're only about ten bucks each.
This is one the beauties of investing in the Nikon F mount system! It gives you huge huge flexibility to leap from one mount to another, no matter what camera you might buy. Such as even Canon EF mount ones.

Canon EF users can hardly say the same!
