Anton Bauer cine90 red brick charger

Hi all

does anyone have a red brick charger they are using to charge a Anton Bauer cine90. Mine seems to take 12 hours to charge and cycles between charging and the red non charging light, where as my hypercore reds take a few hours.
just wondering if anyone else has the same issue and its a compatibility issue

I have the same set-up with the same issue though it doesn't take 12 hours ... maybe 8 or so but I can charge several bricks in that same time. I only have one of the Anton's so it's not a huge deal as it's just in my case for back-up but I know Phil uses these batteries so maybe he could add some input here when he has a minute.

I am no battery expert but I had some non AB chargers from 3rd parties and they didn't work well. Now I have a dual AB charger and it charges properly and conditions the batteries also.

There are compatibility issues with AB and other chargers "usually". They are chipped and configured for certain charging speeds via AB chargers.

There is a good reason the folks at Anton Bauer like people using their chargers with their batteries.

Each of Anton Bauers digital batteries saves information internally such as the age of the battery, charge / discharge rates (including self-discharge) operating conditions and cycles.

When the battery is placed on an Anton Bauer charger, this information is shared with the charger.
With this information, the charger makes decisions on how it will best bring each battery up to a full charge.
About priority; Let's say someone forgot to place batteries on the charger after the morning started. You have several batteries that have been used, one with 20% capacity left, one at 50%, one at 60% and another at 70%. The charger will determine that the battery with 70% capacity will take the shortest time to recharge and get back to work. Then on to the 60%, etc. If you remove the one with only 20% and replace it with one at 65%, that would then default to the next in line.
Of course, the chargers that charge all positions simultaneously are another class.

Third party chargers do not have that capability to share detailed information about the health of the battery.
Nor do they have the ability to enter the battery to perform balance and rejuvenation modes.

Btw, you will finally see more gold mount batteries and chargers from other vendors because there are grounds now that deem chipping AB batteries to only work on heir own chargers unethical.

+1 for all of this. I have 4 Dionic HC-X's and one died recently. I threw it on my AB quad charger and let it sit for a week or two (like the manual suggested) and now it works perfectly!!! Definitely made me appreciate how much is going on inside those batteries/chargers besides just the basic chemical reactions.

Exactly why I decided to bite the expensive bullet and invest in the AB V-mount cine batteries and chargers
