What the Dogme concept was meant to give, was not crappy pictures. Apart from being a 'counterattack' at what Hollywood had become, it was a also a way of making more space for the actors. Give them more to work with, and letting the camera being an observer of what took place within that space of the scene. I don't know if it is because of this movement or not. But Hollywood seem to be using the handheld camera a bit more, like in the two Bourne-sequels. Anthony Dod Mantle shot another of the original 4 dogme films. A film called "Mifunes last song" which was shot on film, and wasn't shaken and all. So big kudos to him for holding that heavy camera on his shoulder.
A dogmatic manifesto aimed at removing the cinematic art and delivering a documentary of a play.
