  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Another Grade my R3D thread

Hey Derek.

The last 3 frames I posted are the main character being pissed off after 100+ takes going wrong on the cookery show so he's now in his green room and has become further angered by seeing a tv chef rival on the TV. So this is all the film and not the 'tv show within the film' if that makes sense?
 
From the bottom of the last page -

Another 3 R3Ds. This time from a scene I'm not sure about, which was supposed to take place in our main character's green room after he storms off set. Very limited depth in the shoots and with no really room to light it properly it all looks a bit flat to me and there's not too much movement in the frames either. Without being over the top I wonder if these can be made visually interesting because at the moment this is the weakest part of the film for me.

To be honest I'm toying with the idea of bringing this right down and introducing a lot of shadow at the edges to make it feel less roomy and more intimate.

Oooh Derek. There's something there. Bloody excellent work. Sometimes you need someone else playing with your footage to show you that you don't need a reshoot :)

Would you mind sharing your workflow there?
 
Another 3 R3Ds and stills if people aren't bored of this game yet :)

Wide and CU of the opening scene. Man sits alone watching TV (the cookery show) and keeps peering uneasily to the ominous looking bucket in the room next door. Going for more muted tones and looking for it to contrast both with the cookery show shots AND the cabin shots I posted earlier.

Have a pretty boring, flat image...client wants it to boost it. I'm not a color guy, I've farted around with Magic Bullet...it's supposed to be boring office life, and so we kept it flat.

Anyone want to give it a shot?
