Here's a still from the short feature I'm currently shooting - a black comedy with some eerie undertones. Trying to come up with a master look for this scene. The cabin/shack is home to a mysterious and creepy maggot farmer who for the purposes of this thread (although not in the script in any way) has all the unsettling characteristics of being a serial killer.

Shot on Scarlet at 4kWS with a Zeiss 15mm CP.2.

A couple of variations - Redcine-X only

Very interested in what you guys and girls can come up with. Please, if you post something, also write a little sentence about what you did to achieve your look so we all (well, I mostly) can learn.

Classical Hollywood Blockbuster Grade with Teal / Orange look.

I actually like the first version Ben.

Here is mine from RCx... might throw another later from Resolve. *** I guess this is not a cooking show ***

Using a custom curve in Red Cine X, along with White Balance & ISO (everything else is at default). I'd say this could be a good starting point. You could do more in Resolve, etc.

Lovely stuff guys. Especially liking your one of the cabin John. Any further details on how you pulled that out of redcine x? OIr even would you mind letting me have a look at the RMD?

Kalulu, it's a fictional 'roadkill' cooking show that our lead character is the star of so we'll see it once on a tv screen when another character is watching it (with a 16:9 crop) and then once again when the story is on set and behind the scenes.

Would like to try this out. Here's the R3D that I shot today. Would like to see what awesome grades people can get from RCX or Davinci.

Shot on the Scarlet at 5k, 12fps for photography.

The Original.

Here's what I think is my best out of RCX.

Put this through Photoshop, but does it looks a little too fake?

Love the grade Derek!

I went pretty contrasty with it, but blew the highlights. I aimed to get that reflection of the trees on the car to pop too, plus I went colorful with the grade, I usually add a red tone.

Yours looks very natural.

Dude, that is some beautiful work right there....well done!

Thanks Jason.

I always like to see the sky when I see an outdoor shot, makes it seem more filmic. Catching the palm trees on the roof and front glass was a real bonus to bring out. I went natural with it, I am a car enthusiast and if it were my Bugatti I would definitely want to see my car looking its best. I used several masks to separate the car from the background and make it the main focus for your eyes. I really like what Rami did, puts me back in Miami.

Another 3 R3Ds. This time from a scene I'm not sure about, which was supposed to take place in our main character's green room after he storms off set. Very limited depth in the shoots and with no really room to light it properly it all looks a bit flat to me and there's not too much movement in the frames either. Without being over the top I wonder if these can be made visually interesting because at the moment this is the weakest part of the film for me.
