  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing Scarlet-W

Estimated shipping dates on RED.com are listed. SCARLET-W will begin shipping in Feb. RAVEN is March due to the moving of 4K to 4.5K. Packages with accessories not shipping until March won't, obviously, ship until March.
ah, damn…well, you kind of need the expander to power it up, and that's march anyway right?
too many choices!!!

You won't regret it.

OMG! Thank you Jarred and team. In for two and maybe a third. My dream come true. Monochrome 5K. With my leica m mounts, I'll be able to use all that fabulous small, vintage low con glass.

What is the maximum framerate and compression at 4.5KFF?

Whoa! That's a good deal. Any chance of a similar option for Epic Dragon? I'm keen on the Prores feature, but can't afford to buy a Weapon.

Can we get a comparison chart between all the new offerings RED has out at the moment? As a RED EPIC DRAGON owner I feel like I am being short changed.

Can you explain why you feel like your being short changed? I'm sticking with Epic Dragon and kinda happy with what else is on offer.. My camera does 6k 100fps.. Why would these other cameras threaten you? I feel like many are getting caught up with having to have the latest greatest.. But Epic Dragon is amazing.. Please explain. Thanks

Wait, So my $30K Epic dragon has now been cut down to a $10k camera? This is getting very confusing.

I've always felt that the Scarlet is the best owner/operator camera out there and this release just confirms my feeling.

And I must say, as an Epic Dragon Monochrome owner, I don't feel threatened by the Scarlet-W Monochrome. In fact, if more people can experience what it's like to shoot with a true monochromatic sensor, it's a win-win for all of us.

Props for the killer line-up, guys.

Warms my heart to see ptap - thank you Jarred!

heh heh you guys dragged me into that kicking and screaming. I don't need to like it.. as long as you do. :)

+1. I think it's a great idea to extend the package deal to all existing owners. Some will take it as their second/ back up unit. Some may not have the resources to upgrade/ trade in to Weapon MG but don't mind dropping 12K to have a second unit. Lot of merit in your suggestion Alex. It will add to the overall volume of sale. A little holiday cheer for all Red owners.

whenever i see HDMI on some product i just go grhhhh.I would rather have 2nd SDI instead of HDMI.And i think most of us do.
Why not making only one input for timecode? (like Redvolt Expander)
DSMC² BASE I/O V-LOCK EXPANDER 1900$
DSMC² BASE EXPANDER 1750$
New Expander certainly voids previous one.Why should i pay 1750$ instead of having one with the Vlock module for 150$ more?

Weight wise is this the same as the Raven with identical accessories/modules or slightly heavier due to interchangeable mounts? If so, how much heavier?

Wow, awesome camera congrats Red. For me the most tempting yet by far.

Before I even knew what was happening I was at process payment, had to throw myself in a cold shower haha. Thinking it trough now. Is it safe to say the days of getting that coveted early place in line are coming to an end, does ships February for orders placed today mean orders placed in a week might be ready in March.. April? February?

2ndly. Interchangeable mount, on a scale of 0-10 what would the odds be of seeing a MFT mount on this camera in the future? I am invested in and plan to invest further in this system, l love it. By the time this Scarlet Weapon ships Olympus will have added yet another set of lenses to the extensive MFT lineup, f1.2 primes. Its just such a flexible and mature system now, inclusive of the Veydra primes for when cine mechanics are needed. I guess in the absence of other options I could see myself begrudgingly moving into Nikon and PL territory for the project I have in mind.. the cost though.
