I would rather pay a LITTLE more if we could get a 240 GB Mini MAG insted of a 120.. My feeling is that we shoot a lot with Epic Dragons, my close friend is getting his weapon soon. the 120GB card looks great for Raven, heck you can prob shoot most of the day on one, but i KNOW a 240GB would handle the whole day at 4k, and would be useful on productions with our other cameras, the 120GB would be kinda silly in a weapon...

I ordered the base I/O package.. maybe $200-$400 more for a 240GB card insted of a 120Gb??

This was the exact reason why I pre-ordered the body only and opt to get the other items separately. 240 or 512 wouldn't sealed the deal for me on the other packages.

the package is a great deal actually, originally i was going to just buy the brain and use some older accessories from my epic, however the new base expander sounds awesome, i love the handle they are developing with the cheese plate (I've always wondered why the other handles don't have that...Cheese plate for life for me) and the fact it comes with a mini mag etc the price is very nice, no complaints..

what would be amazing would be a discount from G-Drive with proof of purchase from a raven/weapon to get a % off their new mini mag reader!! my DIT wants me to get one @@

oh yah and a 240GB mini mag hehe ^^

Can accessories be subtracted/added to the i/o package and we just pay the difference? As others have said, I would prefer a 512GB/7" touch vs the 120GB/4.7"

Monochrome Raven sounds delicious.

Perhaps it would be worth the effort for RED to create a RAVENous package for people who want to shoot all day without downloading. Maybe 4x 240GB mini-mags...

BTW, it's worth noting that one of the key reasons for RED to make the effort to build bulletproof recording media is the expected number of lifetime mating cycles and memory management sub-routines needed to avoid slowdowns during writing. I'm not saying that CFast is terrible at those things, but it's not as heavy duty.

The cost of RED's proprietary mags certainly includes some profit margin, but implying that the cost differential vs CFast is primarily about revenue is myopic. In the past RED has offered bundles to take the edge off and hopefully they will again:
*speculation* IF they did offer something like: 4x 240 for $4,500, or 4x 512 for $8K or 4x 1TB mini-mags for $12K - that might help out the doco/event peeps who are often the most affected by media costs due to long run times and lower budgets.

Highly recommend LEITAX over Novoflex. I've had both and the Leitax is far more solid. Duclos uses them on their mods, and I have two sets of Leica Rs converted to Leitax (including a 280mm) and they are rock solid -- especially with Red's ingenious locking ring on the body. Novaflex mounts have... well... flex in the mount

THANK YOU for releasing this camera. Just Brilliant! Now I don't have to fuck around thinking about Canon or Sony bodies for the jobs we've been shooting on 5Ds (read, lower budget). Now we can have four cameras all sharing a common base of AKS, media and codecs. I can configure them anyway we need for job requirements. I can standardize my workflow around RED. And they are a perfect destination for our Leica R sets For higher end jobs, we'll have our two 6K weapons with PL mounts and cinema glass. Perfect!

No. But DSMC² Outrigger does.

And I believe Jarred teased a third side handle offering in a fairly recent pic...

Correct me if I'm wrong: the "universal handle" that comes with Base I/O RAVEN (I preordered that kit) doesn't allow to start/stop, I need to buy a different handle, right?
I fell in love with the first dsmc handle, it was perfect on every aspect, pretty sad if this dsmc2 version that comes with the kit will be different :undecided:

Agreed 100%. Our Contax glass and EOS modded Standard Primes are going to CRUSH on RAVEN.
