Announcing RED RAVEN

This is great news just got back to from the grocery store and I'm seeing instagram blowing up over Raven had to hop on reduser see whats up.

Looks like the announcement is a day early!!

So tempted to put down a Deposit.... So tempted Hmmmm.... The Price is Right.

Only a couple things... does it come in PL Moint and is a slightly more expensive S35 5K Version coming out in the near future. I could see Red releasing a new camera every year much like Sony and BMC.

I hate to invest in Canon glass since I own a killer set of PL Primes, spent too much money on them to then step down to EOS L Series Zooms. At the same time I have an a7 with MetaBones and I could use some EOS optics.

Hmmm Hmmm

4K 3:1 is gonna hold up well

And is so cheap

RAW+ProRes is the way of the future

Will the 1st Gen 5" Touch & 9" Touch work with Lemo Adapters?

It seems great, congratulations to the whole Red team !

I'm just a little bit worried about the small sensor size, not truly a S35 one. Would it be possible to see some samples to wash this worry away ?

Kristin

Don't worry about, i shot 4k with our dragon all the time and made great images with it. Even did a shoot last week and shot everything at 4K HD on our Weapon.

Sensor size doesn't matter, it pixels and the quality of those pixel that matter IMHO. There is plenty of glass out there with the right focal length you are looking for to tell your story the way you want to tell it, its about having the right sensor a the opposite end of that glass which is going to make the difference :-)

There is Wifi in the brain but that is for control... not for picture.

The i/o that comes with the base /io package has a V mount plate on the back. The Jetpack package has a DC in for a belt clip or external power, or you can buy different battery mount modules for whatever your flavor is.. Anton Bauer, V-Mount, or Redvolts . All the Battery modules are already shipping now.

got it, i take it the redvolts and the redvolt XL skinny module is the smallest situation, so would that clip on to the new i/o as well if and when i upgrade to having video outputs?

Welcome to the party, Europe. We are bringing up more servers as we speak to kick the speed back up.

Kristin, a very well respected creative team in NYC shot shot this fun spot Dragon @ 4K. Compression was maybe 10:1? Holds up pretty great!! And RAVEN can do 3:1!!

Cannot sign in on Red.com to complete order :( Page just hangs forever when trying to log in to complete check out...

Thanks Nick ! I was just thinking about the wide shots, because of the bigger crop factor, but I guess everything will be fine ;-)

Trust me, we are working on it. Looks like two nights in a row with no sleep... Maybe a cat nap?

With one eye open? There are RAVENS circling. (Oh, and they will eat meat!)

so can you skip the red monitor if you can do all the settings through wifi and just go with the new i/o an evf?
id rather have an evf then the red monitor if i had to choose, unless thats the only way to do the settings.

Will this accept the Global Shutter module?

Frank, Raven has a fixed EOS mount, so won't be able to use Motion Mount.

However Dragon sensor is much improved over MX, and processing is so fast...almost behaves like a global shutter...
