  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing RED RAVEN

How much will the base I/O v mount be running, also will it have a power in for my belt clip if I want to use that? Trying to figure out the numbers of what I want to do, oh man this is tough. But I want to order right now, ahhaha
 
Pretty rad little camera. Hard to justify owning a scarlet dragon considering this! Thoughts?
 
So is it a cropped dragon sensor or? Is it confirmed!
 
Lest my earlier comment about a perceived error in deciding to junk the DSMC mount system for this camera should make me sound too negative, let me just say this:

Somewhere in Japan tonight, several unfortunate accountants and product managers are contemplating seppuku...

What does this mean for Scarlet X and Scarlet Dragon owners...? this destroys the X and has better frame rate options than the dragon, even though it is more than double the price.

The approximate accurate statement would be it's a 20.48mm by 10.80mm cut of the Dragon sensor technology.

Scarlet Dragon to me is still very much part of the equation here as it does shoot 5K motion and 6K stills.

Would love your thoughts on this. I love that my scarlet dragon shoots 5K motion. The question is, for most productions that Scarlet dragon is used on, does 5k a selling point. most of the people I know shooting scarlet dragon are not delivering to places where they need 5k. Just curious. Not saying I don't have an answer to my own question ;)

Scarlet Dragon still shoots 5k. Though Raven offers some new benefits like pro Rez and the auto black shade. I wonder if at some point there will be a trade in program?

Yes, that is correct. 8K is four times the surface area of 4K. 4096x2160 versus 8192x4320, or simply 8.8 megapixels versus 35.4 megapixels.

Agreed. However I think the next move is really interesting. I'm sure quite a few Scarlet and Epic Dragon users would love to make the jump to the smaller DSMC 2.0 system. And right now there is a huge gap.

Waiting patiently. While I try to fight the itch to put in a deposit on Raven... :smile5: Which I've almost done 3 times now.
 
so do you need the I/O module to be able to have a video output? or is there another way, is there hdmi out at least on the brain?
do you need it to have battery power? or will that side handle with a battery work.

and that new handle brent you are talking about, do you need a cage to install it, or will it install right on the naked body?

sorry, been shooting epic for years but never owned or put one together, thanks in advance!

I think this Raven will take a big chunk out of my EPIC rental. That's to be expected, but it opens up possibilities in the broadcast world, where I've had difficulties talking people into using RED (that's why I got a FS7, never felt like spending the money on a f55)
Hoping the Raven really takes a big chunk of the FS7/C300 market over here. I know I'll do my best
 
Holy crap! It's 8am here in Europe and I think I am still sleeping because of how good the Raven is!
I guess that now I am writing on Reduser in my dream. :-)
3:1 at 24fps is absolutely amazing. It's almost like uncompressed!
Love that!

I just have one question. Can I order it from Europe in EUR?
For Example in RED Berlin?
