Anamorphic lenses and playback

I am far from the office but they call me and report that when they shoot with anamorphic lenses in ANA resolution mode the camera cannot playback. Can someone share their experiences, is it normal because the cam cannot de-squeeze on the fly? Thanks in advance for any info.

just shot a feature with the lomos.

Thanks for the so fast reply. I am in 2.05. I think they did not have a so good experience with the client,
So this is a limitation of the firmware?
Any updates coming? Any work around?

Yes, I guess it's a firmware limitation at the time, hopefully changes soon...

And then again converting anamorphic footage in REDCINE X v.10 crashes the program? Anyone tested a version of REDCINE X that is not crashing when rendering anamorphic footage into prores?
Christian sorry to ask again but did you have similar experiences?

Nop not at all.

You need to set the factor to fit width 2x under frame control: FIT and all works fine (red cine x built 5.0.6)

yeah, just go for it, it all works out and the anamorphic format and the lenses is what you want, when you talk about
cineastic look! (beside a 5K camera with 16 bit and HDR.. hehe)

Got the same problem shot anamorphic last week "error loading clip...

but it was not a big issue we got playback from video assist.

it's nice that the SDI out gives as letterboxes 1:40 picture. No mixers needed on set atleast.

Want to buy vantage lenses before the dragon comes, after the monster is released I think the market will go up...

Bjorn, yes and damn, it is official, I contacted RED and they answered that for now playback is not possible but they work on it for next firmwares... What is your video assist setup?
And the PIX how is it in ANA modes?
