  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

[WTB] Anamorphic Lens Set

I think the idea of having a specific lens set you are looking for will aid everybody in you search

Narrow it down by trying sets out at rental houses and then target that set.

I used this logic to great success

It's easier for all of us to keep an eye out for you when we know what you want.

I wanted a set of pre 1977 Lomo Square Front anamorphic lenses. And by being specific I had users help me find my Kit.

thanks for the advice, but i dont know if i can get anymore specific since each of the sets i mentioned has a variation of type.
I also cant test them out since they are so rare. But i do see what your saying.

They did good with inventing French Fries so I'm giving them the benefit of doubt
 
I agree that the fries are great, but really you might just as well shoot a spherical lens and crop in this case. The loss of a stop or more and loss of sharpness really isn't worth the additional cost for the simple ability to say "anamorphic". In this case it's a little like saying "Prada" while buying a purse from the back of a van in an alley.

We'll see . . . I expect there to be lots of Ana products to look at from NAB 2014 forward. BTW: your analogy sucks ;-)
 
If I remember correctly, this lens has the anamorphic in the middle of the lens, not in the rear.

actualy a lot of more modern anamiorphics, lomos etc have the anamorphic in the middle of the lens, due to design etc
 
Yes, they do, but that still gives you horizontal flares, squezzed bokah, shallower depth of feild and reasonable speed. Rear element anamorphics (which is what the Ang.s are by all accounts) only give you shallower dof, at the expense of 2 stops, so it's kind of a wash.
