  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

woke up this morning and read this thread, incredible, what offers from the gang. I will through into the pot as well, I have a gap in Jan to March, doing some other pickup work and chilling so would love to be involved. Can support in USA East Coast and South Africa, or with notice Europe. Epic-x, Red Primes and zooms, if timing is right set of Ultra Primes, Cantor X Audio capture, 5K Kino lighting, grip equipment, DIT Cart with Mac Pro 12 Core, 40TB of SAN Raid 5 Storage, and 24TB of Thunderbolt Storage, access to closed areas of Kruger Park, and other great location on South Africa.

And for the right script will through in $5K, also have access to some distribution channels through other work I have done with others. Also great stock footage of Afghanistan shot on Red One.

MY count is 16,000USD + cameras and equipment in about 4-5 different continents. I'd love to see a movie specifically written that involves all the locations and all the equipment offered, it would be huge in terms of scope and ambition. Please Meryem make a list of all the offers and money and keep updating the OP. I'd also love to see the making documented. A world-wide effort to make someone's dream come true from people who offered everything they have for the love of creating art. I applaud the RED community and everyone who stepped up to offer their money, equipment, and services.

...and to supplement what Mohamed just said - I'm also willing to let this thing take on a life of its own - if someone is inspired, as he appears to be. There's nothing that says that anything has to be limited by my obviously meager imagination! if one of you wants to grab this ball and run a lot harder and faster down the field than I can, hey awesome.

meanwhile, I am keeping a list of responses and offers, so we can keep track of it all...

I did, Andrew - I won't be able to address it until later, when things settle down here at AFM - so far, they are only heating up, which is good. It's quite a scene, if you've never been - actually slightly challenging to focus on anything else, but I'm trying my best to maintain the thread while I'm here, since there seems to be so much interest and goodwill. I won't be able to concentrate on any screenplays until the 9th when it is over, but that gives anyone who wants to, a chance to participate. Still hearing from folks. Even waiting on several hard copies (against the modern trend, I always recommend sending those, they are harder for people to circulate than digital...)

Seriously though, if this is on the table, would you consider a treatment Meryem? Like one that specifically calls for all that's currently on the table, since odds are no one has a script like that ready to go (if they did, it'd be too much of a coincidence to be ignored.)

Furthermore, I think a lot of onscreen talent would probably do this just for the opportunity to work in places like Egypt, etc. Hell, I would.

Although I'm not a big poster here, I'm an avid reader and always intrigued by quite a number of threads. This one specifically is amazing, especially given the response.

I'll say that I don't have a ton of experience in the movie making world, but I've done numerous TV shows, web series, and one off shoots (mainly in the Motorsports world), I own my own EPIC-M, and I'd love to be involved in this project in whatever way possible. I would be glad to put up 5K of my own money(and potentially more given the project has legs), my time, camera, equipment, and help. I'd be willing to do whatever job needs filled just so I could be involved in the project that this has the potential to be. By the sounds, this is an extraordinary opportunity that I don't want to miss out on.

I have offered my camera and my services on the set. And pre-pro consulting. Other people have chimed in with extraordinary, generous offers (including money) which far exceed my original offer! gotta love this site, you crazy muthas!

It is likely, though not necessarily guaranteed, that I'll find a good project from all of this to support with my original offer - it will be up to all of these generous individuals to decide if they want to jump on, once they know what it is - which will ultimately mean more disclosures directly to those folks, should you, the filmmaker, try to engage the offers.

I'm kinda winging it here, so let's let this process unfold a bit and see who and what is out there. It has been quite intriguing so far, certainly the energy to get a project made with the resources available through reduser is out there....

I won't require idea disclosure or script review, just your decision and assurance that you've found what you are looking for and have a great team in place. You have my full faith and confidence! (tempting to say, "you're the man" here, since I've been accused of it a little too frequently for my taste on the thread)

well, we have no excuses now, do we?

you have guaranteed development money, hungry aspiring filmmaker, whoever you are. $15K and all the camera gear you can eat.

let's make a movie!

(as I mentioned, send me your stuff, when I get back from AFM on Friday, I'll be able to sit down with it and offer each of you feedback.)
 
and thanks, Jeremiah, for your offer as well - if/when I find a project, I'll get in touch with everyone who responds to this thread with whatever resources or services they offer, and give them at least a logline or synopsis, so they can evaluate their contribution and see if their offer still stands. for those of you offering actual money and funding, I'll put you in contact directly with each other and let you all work out the details between parties.

keep in mind that these are long-term goals - even if we find a project - depending on where it stands in terms of development, actually shooting anything could be a year, perhaps even further, away, even with all of these amazing resources.

and one final note - I keep getting asked about a deadline - no deadline, like I said, we're winging it here - when I find somebody with a good project and the will to see it through, then we will have finished one step in the journey. so the deadline is open, until it isn't. it's all about meeting the hungriest person with the most promising project.

what is likely to happen is that I may pick a couple of options and interview the candidates, find out a little bit more than can be discovered in email...

working with good people is always a huge part of making a decent film.
