It was so generous of you to donate to the Kickstarter, Elizabeth, especially since you have a big project of your own which will require all of your attention and resources. We're glad to have you on the team and you should try to make it to Colorado for the backers' barbecue, which I'll be throwing, probably at the premiere - we could even take our little EPICs out for a spin in the beautiful Colorado scenery.

Sounds like a plan! My own filming will definitely take me to various places in the American west during the next 12-24 months, so Colorado is likely to be on my agenda even without barbecue to lure me.

This is what a wrapped feature film looks like.

The film which I deemed most likely to succeed, based on these submissions, is in the can, or, more accurately, in the hard drive. Mission accomplished and ready to edit.

It can be done.

My only regret is that with multiple films in various stages of development, currently, I wasn't able to bring together all of the fine offers on this thread into one magnum opus. But I have my eye on it, still, and often think about what is possible here.

Momentum on these threads dies quickly, but films can take many years to move from development to reality, especially ambitious ones. The lifespan of a forum thread and the amount of time it takes to develop a big project could not be more diametrically opposed.

But I still think about this - and what is possible - and I still keep my eyes open.

next big challenge will be turning a pretty pile of footy into a good story.

as grueling as most production schedules are, you are only halfway there, by the end of them. a lot of heavy lifting still lies ahead.

I always say you climb five mountains on the way to completing a film: the screenplay, pre-production, production, post-production, and sales/distro

each one of these is a mountain, and when you are done shooting, you're over the hump but still at the midpoint.

making features is not for the faint of heart.

I doubt I'll be permitted to post stills we are further along the post-production pipeline, in fact as producer, I think it is a bad idea, no matter how excited you are to unveil the film. It is generally not smart to post until editorial is complete (you run the risk of posting stills from scenes which are cut) or before the colorist has worked on the files (the reasons for that should be fairly obvious). But there's a lot of production stills here (there's no official set photographer in the micro-budget world, just people pitching in):
