  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone has any experienced using this radio link:

My understanding is my 702's lemo 5-pins tc jack will connect to an Ambient transmitter, and my R1's 5-pins tc jack will connect to an Ambient receiver. Then R1 will get the tc from 702 through radio signal. Am I correct? If so, can I connect to more than one camera if I have two receivers?

you can achieve the same by using sennheiser g/ 2/3.
cheaper,better range and would work as regular wireless if you will need another one .
 
Thanks, Oleg, but I'm not looking for wireless microphone system. I'm looking for tc system for syncing up footage during post-production.

and what exactly ambient if not audio wireless system ?;-), just a bit overpriced and has very poor audio spec.
 
The LTC timecode system is an audio signal, albeit one you can't really listen to. Regular audio wireless systems will carry it as long as the gain structure is right.

Are you saying that I can use g2/3, or any wireless system, to sync up the timecode of 702 and R1?

tx? Is it tc? I'm using R1 and Sony NX5U. Can I connect it directly to their tc jack instead of audio line in?

TX ,, is short for transmitter .
you need to supply Tc to your transmitter , if it has line inputs as g-2 ( the ring on its jack connector ) you go straight , if you have TX which only accept mic level , you need to padd down the signal for 30 -40 db with resistor in line .

the receiver needs to output line level or at least , very high mic one ,to drive your cameras TC input .

in short , dont waste your money on ambient - buy g3 set and if you like connect additional camera , just add additional receiver .

you will need 2 cables , 5 pin lemo tc out to G2 LINE INPUT ( RING + Sleeve on its connector , the tip is connected to ground , aka sleeve ) , and additional one for receiver out ( tip + ring together , ground ) to 5 pin lemo Tc in or bnc for your Sony . very simple :-)

they don't , find the connectors , and ask someone to do it , not more then 70- 80 usd in prts and labor , the lemo 5 are abit expensive .

Sorry to come late to this thread:

Are you saying that all that's coming out of the BNC timecode out socket of cameras is a line level audio LTC signal?

Thus all one has to (easily) do is attenuate the line level TC signal to mic level and use a wireless mic pack to send the TC signal wirelessly?

depends on your transmitter , some could accept line level without attenuation ( lectrosonics , sennheiser , audio limmited )
