  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

amazing new shoulder rig

A BT Clutch is $3k! A Clutch sold for $2500 immaculate condition 3 days ago. Thats pretty reasonable knowing Red's got your back.
that means nothing, same guy selling his new Epic-M 10K less.Thank god he didnt want 500$ for Red Clutch im sure you were going to say Red Clutch worth 500$ lol..

Hello fellows, pricing will be clear very soon, then you can tell for your self if any of the Titan packages is for you or not.
You will be able to see whats included in each package and you will also have a new cheaper package that can be fully upgraded in any of the more advanced packages, and as I already stated it will be at least 2k cheaper from its competitor, still having everything you need to use it , and add already purchaced gear that you own, like ARRI or ET dovetail plates, 19mm battery bracks and plates from other manufactures like Red, or AP, or even our own accessories brackets, that you may buy at a later stage, with out braking the bank.
Being 2k Cheaper doesnt mean that it will have parts missing , so please hang on for a few days and you will be able to decide for your self , with out any missleading information , or rummors.
We have made many changes on the production rigs, which it will all be beneficial for you, with out us encouteting the cost of redesign, and offer even better prices than in the past.
If for any reason you cannot wait , its easy, drop me a mail , and I will update you , as I always do with out hesitation.
But one point I want to mention so this is clear from the start, the Titan is a high end rig , made from high end materials with quality approvement, and with the highest possible processes , with out comprimissing, and cut short ways, to make cheaper production costs.
thank you for your interest and time.

btw Kemalletin, I have been is Istanbul X mass and I was blown of its beauty, even did a small documentary hehehe.
People were very hospitable , very polite, and very very friendly. Lovelly place. We are very much alike , and I wouldnt hesitate to say that I have a few new brothers after this trip.
Being a mucissian as well, I was really blown from all the different instruments and places you can buy them, and the many different music cultures and bands that you can listen too, going around .
Great place to be.

Did you get the unit for free? Var den gratis til Glen. The price, the price... Even by Danish standards too high. Disclaimer... I am from Denmark, we are known for design etc, I don't like the price point and this is just my opionion.

Hi Paul,

In answer to your question, no I did not get the unit for free. I'm an early believer and have been happy to test in real world applications. The rig I have is not a final production rig. Most of the components on the one I'm testing have been redesigned for production.

It's regrettable that you seem to have taken offence but its just my opinion and I'm very sure people are smart enough to know BT is 2nd hand and the price is ballpark. To suggest that I should be 'more accurate' in my posts is your opinion and you have the freedom to express it. And I have the freedom to reject it.

I worked 10 years in sales and the one principle that applies all over is the customer will pay extra for the same product to the company that has better customer service. Hence, the saying goes, "The Customer is always right." or "Never argue with the customer." etc. etc.

Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool that can make or break a product.

If that were true (...the one principle that applies all over is the customer will pay extra for the same product to the company that has better customer service) Adnan, no one would be buying from Red. Great products, customer service...not so much.

If you've already got a Clutch, why are weighing on the Titan? You're taking shots at folks that have invested a tremendous amount of time and money to bring a better solution to market. Instead of tying to knock them down you should champion their efforts.

Kostas,

Still can't wait to see more of this. Also, what matte box is in that sample photo?

Hello there. Ok here is some very quick bad phone shots of a prototype Titan, just to show you guys what possibilities you could have using it in different configurations.
of cource to 90% of the operators a well balanced over the shoulder with low profile rig is the prefered choice. But there is always that 1 shot that you might need to go for, you might be a tall guy and have to deal with short actors or kids, and that means you might have to bent your nees and stretch for a painfull long take. Or the opposite , you might be a short guy and have to deal with taller actors, and have to stretch and walk on your toes or hahahaha high heals ( its a joke)
In any case I though I just give you a few clever transformations of the Titan Lite that shows you some ofe these on the extreme. So you can have a dead center with low CG camera over your shoulder, and change in a behind the camera super LOW shoulder possition,or a super high mode possition ,with just the twitch of a few knobs. so here it is. Sorry for the phone picts.

Thanks for the quick shots, next try to post some slow ones too... ;)

What I like is that the Shoulder PAD seems to be nice and beefy so to provide a comfortable fir and a good ride on your shoulder, still looking forward to test it out with the REE Quick Pro Release system, especially now that I no longer have the Clutch, and some how the Mantis fills very antique and completely out of place with my new gear.

Hi Ketch,

The shoulder pad as it is is plenty beefy. My understanding is Kostas has made some design changes to make it even better but I'll let him speak to that.

Hi Kostas,

I should be able to post some pictures of the rig in action Wednesday as we found our camera that was used to take pictures of the setup. We just have to get it (camera) back in our hands. (long story)

Good to hear, and with our talks via email, I'm hoping for a great solution to finally allow me to shoot Shoulder mounted shots at will... ;)

I think you'll find the TItan very inviting to do shoulder mounted shots. It feels great in the hands and on the shoulder. I like how balanced and compact it feels. The ergonomics of the Titan are spot on.

Ouch Ketch! Maybe if we wrapped it in Gucci leather it feel like new again? Realize that the Mantis is a huge seller for us and its not because someone is looking for what looks good today. They are looking for what will work tomorrow. They want it because it doesn't fail, we have replacement parts when its damaged and its a piece of AKS that they can hand down to their kids if they wanted to.

On a side note, I am paying very very close attention to all the shoulder pad gimble designs being posted as we do own the patent for the roll/pan adjustment.

Hahah Joey, yes you should wrap it in Gucci. It deserves it - couldn't have been more happy with mine all these years. It's a great rig and so is all your other products that you guys make.

We are aware of your pending patent. As our lawyers went through all existing patents on the market applying for our own. Regarding equipment that works and customer service as for example spare parts etc. - we couldn't agree more. That's the reason for us not launching as of yet, as it does take quite sometime to set up an organisation providing for that - obviously we're also spending a lot of time testing our rig, so it will work flawlessly from the start ;) .

If there are any questions regarding our rig etc please don't hesitate to PM either me or Kostas and we will fill you in as much as we can.

Thank you for your interest

Ha ha, funny Joey... ;)

What I mean is that the Mantis simple in its design, does indeed look out of place and antique compared to the Clutch and this new system advertised here, but it is also no secret that I have loved the Mantis since day one, and bought and gifted several, because it was the only one that truly offered a perfect solution to the horizontal alignment issue with one's shoulder curvature which of course is individually unique, and even so I loved the Clutch more, I did end up marrying the Clutch with the Mantis Should Pad system, and for this my last order of the Mantis was not the complete unit but only the Pad and the plate.

So don't take this as an offense to your gear, as it was to state the true of how it fills, yet I have been talking about its quality and great utility for years, here on Reduser and other forums as well as on sets, and well deserved credit too, but now it is out of place amongst the new kids on the block... ;)

For this I'm shopping around for an ultimate solution in view of our film in Rome which will be shot in great part on Shoulder rig.

BTW Joey, if you made it in Italian Leather and the shoulder pad smaller and more rapped around in a curve to hug the shoulder more, and also a ticker pad to allow for a bit more of comfort, I'll buy it again... ;)

Ummmm 3Ality owns the patent on something rotating? I literally had "Mantis Shoulder system" in my google search bar when I read that veiled threat over what seems to be a ridiculous abuse of our patent system. Now... not so interested.

Back on topic. Is that pad new from NAB. I have to say I tried out the rig at NAB and it was only my second favorite shoulder pad after the Action Products pad. Maybe that new pad would have assuaged any discomfort. Also are the grips going to remain the same or switch to something less ripply?

Hello Gavin. Though the shoulder pad preference is something very subjective from person to person, I have changed the design to a more ergonomic following the lines of the shoullder design, and wider, and I have added more angle adjustment , now it goes up to 20 degrees. But so far everyone was happy with the confort of the older pad. However I will not be satisfied if customers arent all 100% satisfied, so I redesigned it.
The handle grips again, that varies from people to people. Me being a steadicam operator for 15 years, I like thick grips, and the rubber rings do add a good grip. But others like very slim grips. So again I reduced a little the diameter from 42mm to 37 mm.
thank you for your interest

It should be added that the pad that was on the proto type at NAB. Was hardly even a proto type unit - so I wouldn't worry to much if you thought it was fairly comfortable then (or as you're saying Gavin - it was your second favourite)

As Kostas is mentioning - we have redesigned it and made quite a few adjustments (we don't think it will disappoint)

Good to hear, the more comfort to the shoulder and the more adjustment allowed the better, as far as the grips, I found my perfect grips, which are the new RED grips, they just fit perfectly my hands for this I want to try and adapt your shoulder pad system to the Quick Pro Release RED system and their handles, look forward to get your Shoulder Pad... ;)
