  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

AMA RED>Transcode>Edit>Relink to AMA RED?

Go to Media settings for transcode/render tab and set debayer to 1/2 premium or 1/2 good and try again.

Michael

Thanks… yes - this helped a lot…

Works great… I’m impressed…

Just have Problems to use the FullScreen Playback function. Even If I use very high compressed files I get a access violation error.
Any Idea?

Thanks

Could be a graphics card issue. What OS, Graphics card, etc? Does it meet the supported cards and OS as listed on Avid.com?

Ok just solved the problem… if “fullscreen” and “source/timeline viewer” are on the same monitor my system works just fine…

Whooo I’m really impressed by this MC/5 update… Now there is a real working workflow for me too…

thanks

Relinking not working

Relinking not working

I have tried all the suggestions in this post, yet still seem to be unable to relink back to the original AMA files.

This is my workflow thus far:

R3D transcoded in MC5 to DNxHD36 1080/24p (could this be the issue since source footage is 23.976?) - when I transcoded the window popped up saying if I want to be able to relink back to AMA I need to "convert," so I clicked CONVERT. (the other options were SKIP and CANCEL.)

Create sequence using DNxHD footage. Pull DNxHD clips offline via moving MXF from (1) directory.

Files offline.

Highlight all AMA clips. Right click sequence > Relink > I've tried every option on and off, but nothing relinks. Now, I can link back to the AMA if I click on the DNxHD clip, right click, and select "Link to AMA" but that doesn't affect the sequence. Also, "Relink to AMA" is greyed out.

Help?

Relinking not working for r3d :(

Relinking not working for r3d :(

Hey guys,

I am running MC 5.0.3 on a pc, Windows XP SP3

And for the r3d's in my bins and sequences the software seems to not want to relink the r3d. I tried all the suggestions above, i hid my Avid Medias folder to take my transcoded DNxHD 36 links offline. And then tried to relink. I tried all the options, I have unchecked allow relinking and checked it, neither worked. I have made sure all my bins from the original AMA files are open, linked and online (meaning I can see the r3d files in my AMA bin, it's just the subclips won't link to them).

I have a project 1080p/23.976 that is mixed Alexa MOV prores 444 and r3d, the prores 444 MOVs relink, just the r3d's do not.

So I don't really understand why.

I brought in both type of files the same way, I linked via AMA. Then I transcoded to DNxHD 36 in Avid MC5 for the edit. Inbetween, all I did was sync the sound and make subclips. Each of the subclips, I renamed and took out the new.02 that avid would add each time it would create a new version of the clip. So my final subclip that I used to edit, is the exact same name as the ama source file name.

Has anyone else bumped into this problem? Is there a fix?

Or maybe I am just missing something easy. Hope someone can help me point that out.

Thanks in advance,
Jay

Solution found, kind of

Solution found, kind of

Okay,

So, I noticed all the transcoded DNxHD 36 clips from my AMA r3d's did not have timecode on them. I guess MC5.0.3 for some reason didn't keep the timecode from the r3d linked from ama to the transcode. Has this happened to anyone else?

But once I edited the start timecode on my subclips to match the r3d's linked by ama. And then I relink my subclips to the r3d, it will link.

Unfortunately, I have to update every transcoded clips timecode :(

Is there an avb editor or something like excel that I could copy a whole column from one bin's timecode to another that I don't know about? :)

At least there is a solution.

New problem sigh

New problem sigh

The subclips relink to the AMAs, but now the subclips fdon't respond to the set source settings of the subclips.

The image in the timeline is automatically very dark for some reason in the timeline, although the same clip (the original and subclips is REDspace/REDlog) opened up in the source monitor is in accordance to the set source setting of the ama file. And no matter what setting I adjust the subclip to, the timeline image doesn't change.

Sigh.

Anyone have this happen?

You need to have the sequence active and under the tools menu (I think). there is a sequence update menu item (not in front of my system). In there you update changes to source clips to the sequence.
