I'm in the market to buy an Anton Bauer quickplate in the next few weeks and am looking for some alternatives to the battery plate that Wooden Camera has to offer. I know VF is a great option but is backordered for the next few weeks at least.

Instead of this AB Plate:

Does anyone know if this will work to combine with the WC quickback and battery back?:

I'm looking for a plate with preferably a shorter cable than what WC has, and also preferably cheaper, but I'd pay $400 if it got me a short cable. Any input?

I don't think the one you linked in the original post would work. It's designed for direct interface with their power cages.

Anton Bauer's own epic/scarlet LEMO compatible plate is the one Wooden Camera sells, so if you can find it in stock or a version with a shorter cable you'd just need to buy the quickback and the mounting plate.

You may want to contact MG1 Concepts, they maybe able to help you out. I bought one of their V-mount Pro wt detachable plate. I think their lemo cable can be shorter. I ask for one to be shorter than 12".

I have the Wooden Camera AB plate and I must say the cable is annoyingly long...

Any solutions to this? Can one shorten the cable somehow - or should I just find a way of tying it down?

Just as an update..

I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I talked to Ryan from WC and he said that he will very soon be offering AB plates with custom length cables at no extra cost.

I just wind it up and bongo tie.

It's good to have the longer option as you add modules, you might need the longer length later.

I ordered the AB Gold Mount plate, battery back and Quick Back from Wooden Camera within the past week (they are all on backorder atm) and after reading your post sent an email to Ryan asking about the possibility of getting a custom length on the cable. It's 11:30PM on a Sunday and he replied back within a few minutes stating that yes, I could get the cable shortened once the AB Gold Mounts come in in a few weeks.

Talk about customer service - I'd never ordered anything from Wooden Camera before but that type of service makes me want to throw my business his way with future purchases.

I have the Viewfactor one and wish it was longer now.. Very short.

The cable is user-"upgradeable" and viewfactor will be offering different lengths. Currently it's made to just have the plate attached to the rear of the camera.

Hey Ryan,

Just wanted to list another alternative available for AB or v-mount style battery mounting:

The ActionProducts solution consists of 3 modular components that allow for quick release, powering of all your additional accessories, and powering of the camera itself while maintaining its light weight and maneuverability.

I use the gear that Justin is pimping and I can't speak highly enough of it or the people behind it. The Electra/ Proteus set up is awesome.

We're also about to officially release a new more simple battery plate option. Pricing and availability will be posted in the ActionProducts thread as well as our blog within the next few days!

Looks awesome!

My one concern is availability.

Both WC and VF have been backordered for some time and I haven't heard any updates on when that will be fixed. I'm just trying to figure out the best solution right now.

I'll definitely keep my eye out for yours!

There's so many great options. FWIW, I just got a shipping notice from Wooden Camera that can only be my Anton Bauer Mount and Battery Back (at least I hope it's both). So, they may be coming out of backorder status.
