Hi,

here is a test I made with the 7d. I've tried to tell a kind of "story" for it.

Thanks

PS : I know about the striped shirt problem ;-)

Great test. At first glance I'd say the aliasing on the striped sweater is heavy. Was it as heavy before VIMEO?
Parts of it, specially skin-areas look overexposed. Difficult, because there is no Zebra in DSLR-world, right?
Did you use Auto-Focus in the strangling scene?

Looks great! Nice work. I assume this is a pre-production model? Man, you're right, that striped shirt was KILLER... ugh!

What shutter speed were you using? Every 7D video I've seen so far seems to have a really high shutter speed of at least a 120th.

You're right, no zebra in here. But I'm the happy owner of a Marshall lcd70-hdmi with exposure control...and I had the great idea to not bring it that day. But believe me, it was a crazy test...no time to do it and no time to do proper exposure work...but I least we all had a lot of fun. Isn't it the real magic with this camera? ;-)

PS : No auto focus on the strangling scene, everything manual (probably the reason why it's..not in focus ;-) ...need sometime to properly use manual ring on this wonderful lens.

I will verify it later but if I remenber well it was something like 50th. The 7d is not a pre-production model. It's a production one bought in Paris 1 week ago.

I think it's great if you improvize something like that. Just pointing out the exposure control because people here still compare it to a professional camcorder. It's not. Not everything recording video is a camcorder. At least not a professional one. It's hard to control as well like with the focus. I'm pretty sure you did as good a job as one could under the circumstances :)
I apprechiate to see someone showing it like it is without 2000$ of accessories. :)

LOL at the striped shirt.

Sing it...
" When sets of thin lines
cross to form new designs
that's a moiré. "

Gotta love the line-skipping.

Anyway, I'm hungry. I'd probably kill a dude for a sandwich right now.

Here's what I do to check exposure on the 5d:

Take a quick picture before you start rolling and check the histogram. If you don't like what you see, adjust any parameters, add/remove ND and snap another one. Repeat this until you're happy.

The recorded video will match the still's histogram.
