  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Allstar A-mount system is available! --with REDONE approved!

As a current ProLock user, I'd really encourage an externally accessible iris control, even if it adds cost. Removing the lens to change aperture seems impractical on a shoot, and I already own lenses that don't have iris rings of their own.

Hello~
We all know that "one cannot sell the cow and drink the milk"
Now I can just offer this way to control iris, if you want better, you could wait for rehousing lenses. ProLock supports Nikon lenses very well, but only for Nikon lenses.

Allstar,

Any plans to make an OCT-19, FD, or PV adapter for your A-mount?

Is it possible to make an F-mount that attaches to the A-mount instead of attaching to the Nikon lens? That would be a nice choice for those who don't use Nikon very often, but would still like to be able to quickly use Nikon lenses.

As soon as you have the BNCR mount ready I want one!

Thanks,
Dusty

no way for FD, but OCT-19 and PV adapter are possible. maybe later, but now the point is completing the R and Nikon G adapter.
I try to design Nikon G adapter with Iris control on the lens, now the sample is almost ready. M42 and Leica Radapter are ready to be sell. And followed by BNCR mount and back focus length lens.

This is conflicting. For improving the imperfection of ensemble the still camera lens, I designed this adapter that is very strong and direction-changable. And now go back to the original ensemble way?
It is very easy to take apart the adapter, if you don't use Nikon lenses very often, you can buy one adapter for switch, which should be much inexpensive than buying one mount, you can consider with that:)

Allstar, Wow, this product really blows me away. I love how Red buisness plan of transparency has resulted in the creation of accessory companies that also utilize customer input in the creation of new and exciting products. A couple of questions...

1. How could you modify this system to be designed around the new Scarlet and Epic system? I am not sure how the new DSMC mount system works but I am sure that you will figure something out. (I think that the new mount uses 4 holes instead of six. have you considered building Nikon to PL adapters or does that not work?)

2. What back focus devices would you recommend to ensure that the lenses are spot on? Do you believe that the lenses will need some shimming in order to get them to all match up?

Basically, I am looking for the most robust way of mounting my Nikon style glass to the new system without having the lenses converted to PL mounts (which would be too expensive to be worthwhile).

Hi Andrew,
As a AllStar mount user, I can't answer to your first question but on your second question, I have Nikon and C/Y mount both and both distance matches right on the spot. Once you screw on the mount it stay as rock. I loved it. I will be shooting a commercial next week with A mount with Zeiss/Contax lenses. I will post the result once it is done.

.

Scarlet and Epic's design is putting the mount on the board, so I can do like that, making one board for it. after they are out.
For Nikon to PL, it is easy and okay for the long length, like 80-200.
However, I don't just want to make Nikon to PL, I want rehousing. Maybe rehousing the new one 70-200.

Can you A-mount to a Canon camera...like a 5dMII? Or is it only for RedOne?

R and M42 will be available this week, and BNCR is in process, but I cannot tell you when it will be done. I hope it and other products can be done asap. Because time is very limited for me now, and I cannot reply the questions or delay the shipment, because I am now serving in the army-- Mandatory. From last August. I only have 8 free days in one month, and spend other time in the army where cannot use Internet, so I have to contact with my friend by phone and solve the problems and answer the questions, and all the sell service. This way, the process is easily becoming delay and mistakes. I apologize for all the inconvenience. And the manufacture process becomes very slow because I don't have enough time to communicate with the factory. So I do these works with times of effort in limited time. After 4 months, I will be free!! And everything can be worked as normal as before. Peace & Love.

Hey Allstar, you are superman... serving in the army, R&D, answering emails, posting on here, inventor, communicating with factory, mailing finished products, etc. etc.. Maybe you should work directly for RED. Good luck with it..

I've been living this way in past 7 months and this will end in 4 months. And then I can work NORMALLY.

Allstar,

Totally understand. I served 8 years in the military. As soon as you have the BNCR mount I am buying. I would buy now and wait, but a couple other vendors took foreverand I don't want to deal with that again.

We received our A mount, its first rate, beautiful machining and very sturdy.

We fitted the R mount with Summilux 50mm f1.4, its very beautiful glass, even after a few shots its starting to transform the way we are able to use Red with other non cine lenses.

The R lenses we have seem to be able to work really well for our application. The are not as mechanicaly elegant as a true cine lens but one of the most workable we have. We will get the R lenses fitted with lens gears and 80mm fronts and I think they will be fine. The Leica glass is second to none. Ill post some tests here shortly.

The A mount is a real step forward, I cant recommend it highly enough.
