  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Allstar A-mount system is available! --with REDONE approved!

yes ZF 50mm. I believe rehousing sigma 50mm will cost much less compare to ZF 50mm.

Lenses for nikon mount

Lenses for nikon mount

I have purchased 1 all star mount with Nikon f mount.. i want to know if i can use a tokina 11-16
using that mount and how will i focus it..
also can you suggest me what lenses i should go for
to complete a good set at a reasonable prices
 
Focusing the Tokina is easy. Just move the focus ring to the MF position. Adjusting the iris is the challenge. You will need to get Allstar's Nikon G mount for any lens that doesn't have an iris ring.

As far as reasonably priced lenses, I have had really good luck with the Nikon AIS lenses. The Zeiss ZF lenses are very popular, as well.

Hi, Kwan , Rehousing the lens isn`t easy, I take all parts off just retain the glass, then make new housing. That is a very complex work. Please give me more time.
OCT-19 adapter is testing, new Nikon G adapter will be producced later, I have to finish the lens first.

ALLSTAR OCT-19 A-mount adapter

Just received ALLSTAR's OCT-19 A-mount adapter, and I am really impressed with the quality of his work. The adapter fits my Lomo roundfront anamorphics perfectly. A quick test confirmed my back focus setting on the RED works fine for this A-mount as well as the PL and BNCR A-mounts. Will check the Nikon A-mount when I get a Nikkor.

There is no need to buy an adapter for each lens in my kit, I simply swap adapters - takes less than 10 seconds. Now I use my PL, BNCR, OCT-19, and (soon) Nikkor lenses interchangeably without changing the mount on the RED. The fit and finish of these parts is incredible at a low price. Next I plan to look at his Shoulder System.

This sounds awesome. I would love to pick up an Allstar Mount to OCT-19 A-mount. Have you had any back focus issues switching between the Lomos to the PL's?


ALLSTAR - the OCT-19 mount is not on your website, how would one find it when I have the money to buy one...

Peter - For back focus, I test OCT-19, PL, and BNCR lenses on A-mounts to come up with an average setting at 3 meters and infinity. (I probably should also use 1 meter.) The lenses I use for testing are classic Super Baltars, Lomos, Angenieux, and a modern Duclos 11-16.

I use the RED focus assist meter on a contrasty subject. The range for my lenses is roughly +/- 6-degrees of rotation on the RED mount. I don't know what the range is in microns. I attribute most of the variance to to the lenses themselves, not the A-mount. The average setting works fine for me.

Hi:

Any thoughts about adapters for other cine mounts? I am thinking about Arri standard, Arri bayonet, OCT18, Eclair, R-35, Aaton...etc.

Also, will BNC lens fit in the BNCR mount? What is the pricing on the OCT19 mount (its not up on your website yet).

Allstar,

By any chance, are you planning to attend the RED Community Event Thursday night in Hollywood? If not, what is the return policy on the mounts, since I can't see them function before ordering? Do you ship FedEx?
