In a color session yesterday we were seeing aliasing and moire on a couple of shots (Monstro footage). Very rare to ever see moire/aliasing with RED footage. So I assumed it must be playback. Checked to make sure I was playing back at full res premium at 16 bit (thank you M1 Max). Tried different scaling methods (8k is in a 4k timeline). Even rendered out the clips. and that's where things get strange. In quicktime, the clip played smooth but on second playback the aliasing appeared briefly. and it can be seen when scrolling through the clip. that obviously raised some eyebrows as why would that happen? Is there some kind of optimization happening on these new systems that could introduce this? I'll see if I can screen capture it later today to demonstrate the issue.
