Is it possible to render to 1080 Pro Res with Alchemy applied without it slowing down the system?

Right now using my kind of old Mac pro + one Rocket system, Alchemy makes the Rocket-to-ProRes process less than realtime.

If this no longer an issue for those with newer Macs, please let me know! I'm simply looking for a solution to speed up renders that use Alchemy (and unsharp mask, etc..)

The "Look:Effects" are all processor intensive and not accelerated by the Rocket. That's the only real downside to using them.

So on a new-ish mac pro, or a brand new fangled one coming soon, would be doing these effects faster because its simply a faster computer then?

I guess what i want to know is, what do I need to get realtime (or just a significant improvement) Alchemy, or is it always slightly behind real time even if you have a fast processor.

Does the new rocket-free redcine help at all? does a GPU help or just the computer processor speed?

thanks phil

The new GPU acceleration in Redcine-X Pro does indeed help, and it's considerable. I have no idea about new-ish Mac performance as I'm a PC guy. It will likely be behind realtime with Alchemy, Clarity, Skin, or Unsharp Mask selected. I'm sure a beast of a system chews through them faster though. I'd have to do some large scale tests to see if I could get realtime in any configuration though.
