They are not using a P+S Technic mount.

Jim

Jim, you seem to know much about the particulars. Why so cryptic? I suspect the cameras are being provided by RED. Can you tell us more about PV mounts? Can the rest of us get access to one?

Hollywood film makers picked it over film based on look alone, and are loving it to create art... isn't that the end of the argument?

No. Just as I would say the ride quality of a cadillac being superior to a ford pickup isn't the end of the argument on which vehicle is best for *any* situation.

Horses for Courses.

There are times when the mysterium shines. There are times when I wouldn't even consider a red.

Sorry to be cryptic. Someone guessed that the PV mount was provided by a company. That wasn't a good guess. It isn't our place to say what a feature is doing other than what we are authorized to say.

Jim, I am sure shooting for the pic won't get cold enough to affect the warranty. For features shot in cold weather climates would there be any concern for repairs to the cameras with the warranty voided?

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking... best to contact the Bomb Squad with your concerns.

Jim, thanks, I did.

A bit off track here, but Jim, I live in Canada, where 6 mths out of the year it is colder than the new warranty info. I was just wondering, why, after 5000 and some cameras does Red decide to limit the warranty now? When I bought the camera, I did my research and I saw what kinds of footage people were getting. Its sort of like buying a 4-wheel drive and then after paying for it being told that you can't drive it off road.

1Dog... As this has been hammered over, and over, and over, and over with you already ( i believe you have already given Brent a nervous breakdown over the last week ) using your camera in the cold is not going to automatically void your warranty...

Of course.. If you do something really dumb in the extreme cold or hot and something breaks.. the repair is not going to be covered under the warranty... just like if you did something really dumb in normal temperatures and something breaks, its not going to be under warranty. that has always been the case. Again, it's just common sense.

If you use the camera in extreme hot, or extreme cold, just protect the camera like you would your body. it's really that easy.

Don't worry man it's going to be ok... the sky is not falling, The sun is still burning, and believe it or not, as much as you seem to think and preach it, there is actually no new temperature warranty policy... all we did was update the "recommended operating temperatures" for best performance.

I love ya man.. Im here to help. If you want to continue to talk about the temperature subject, let us please finally take it offline. email me anytime, jarred @ red.com .

This thread has pretty successfully veered off course ( for the 3rd time ).. so I am shutting it down :)
