Just wondering if there are many cheap sliders out there that will work well with the Scarlet, any recommendations? I'll be using a very basic rig, touchscreen, side handle, so the weight shouldn't be too much of an issue?

If you want cheap - rent something great. If you want to own, then spend to get a quality slider that won't frustrate and cause you to make excuses about bad shaky footage… just sayin'

The http://mytworks.com/ will last a lifetime of travel and film set abuse.

I have one (MYT Works) that I use 2-3 times a week - very sturdy, well thought out, and the grips love it because there are so many mounting options / points. At NAB they were showing several new options for underslung mounting and a computer / motion control unit.

Hey Doug,

I've been testing out different sliders over the last few weeks and have decided to go for the Kessler Stealth: http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/stealth_trav.htm

It takes the weight of a Scarlet even with a V-mount on it, it also has the option of attaching a motor down the line for controlled moves. Kessler recommend the Cineslider for the Scarlets weight, however, Im after portability and I was pretty happy with the stability of the Scarlet on Pocketdolly/Stealth.

Pocket dolly Basic also does the job (photo) and at $499 its a pretty good deal.

I was hoping to put an order through in the next couple of weeks. If you decide to go down that road might be an idea to order together and save money on the crazy postage costs.

Might want to avoid cinevate, a buddy has just had to return an Atlas 10, bearings came loose and build quality wasn't anything to shout about either.

Cheers
H

Wow, really? It's so affordable. $400 is pretty insanely cheap. How's the build quality? That much for a reliable 6foot slider is pretty insane.
It works because it's simple. Just nice smooth skate wheels on a track. Not sure on weight limit, but I had my scarlet, v mount, lcd, mattebox and FF and felt solid. Can't complain for the cost. Build of the track seems good but I haven't had it very long so we'll see in the long run

The Kessler international postage is out of control. I can't even order small parts without paying 5 times the value in postage. Great products but their postage needs big improvements.

Cheers for the post Harry, was pretty close to pulling the trigger on an Atlas 10.

Sorry to hear about your friend's experience with the Atlas 10. We do have adjustment instructions available if the user finds the slider carriage too tight or too loose. Having said that, if shipped out or adjusted past a certain looseness the slider might develop wobble - again, this is completely fixable without having to ship the unit back. We've been actively monitoring these units to ensure the Atlas ships to our specification.

+1 on the Midas Mount - Brandon lent me one for my first Scarlet DP gig...it is really smooth and light, yet really sturdy.

That reminds me that I still owe him some BTS footage. Definitely check it out if you can. I plan on buying one next time a shoot requires a slider.

Just so it's clear, Steven is talking about a different Brandon :)

Yeah its out of control. I will be putting an order through in the next week or so, PM me if you need anything and want to piggy back of my order.
