  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Aeon Cine Titan Lite Review (and comparison testing)

So I had a little breakthrough in that I didn't need the battery plate in-between the red v-mount point and the Aeon battery arm. Here is a quick video on how quickly you can switch between a lower center-of-gravity and a tighter rig depending on the lens size. This video just demonstrates how quick you can change between the two layouts.

Ketch with all respect , please consider that you are probably not aware what the titan can be set to do, there are more than 8 different configurations, and that's exactly why it has been designed to do, fit different styles. You want it short and minimum , its there. You want it long and with a lot of inertia its there. You want efp style its there, long or short arms you can do it, rise or lower the battery back at any 3 axis degrees rotation and height, its there, closer to the camera right on, no problem.
The user is the one that defines whats best for him and his preferable style.
As I said its all good , do your thing, make your rigs, suit your needs.
If the Titan isn't the one for you, you will find something better for your needs.
But so far you have missed more that 2 very important features on the Titan and you probably missing more as those were the most obvious.
All good, and I hope you find what you are looking for at the end.
regards

Absolutely Constantine, that is why I said that I look forward to give it a try when I find a possibility to do so, I just don't want to invest in gear anymore before having the opportunity to try it out, as I wasted way too much money doing so, buying gear and then selling at a substantial discount even if new.

I however know for fact I don't want any of the Extension Bones, that is a fact given my experience with all other Shoulder Rig tested, it just does no balances well for my needs, yet I don't wan tot do what many even on multimillion dollars sets do, which is grab the shoulder rig by the Matte Box, I also know that I will not use anything protruding from the back of the rig either, and that is why I said that your Spartan package MINUS the 4 Bone pieces might or could be the rig for me...

Then there is to see the Handles, I haven't grabbed on to them to say they will fit or not fit my needs, so I will not make any judgment on that side, yet every handle I have tested to date has failed to provide with what I need, were the RED handle grips have provided exactly with what I need, firm solid grip yet soft enough not to hearth my finger Bones (heavily affected by premature Osteoporosis do to the crazy amount of meds I take) don't get slippery even in extreme hot days do to sweating, and so on, then if I like the Handles good, if not I need to see the possibility to integrate the RED ones, yet this is a secondary fact, an other fact to be seen is if the distance of the Y axis were the Handles are mounted is wide enough so to allow the handles to be mounted directly on it, and or if ti can be extended in width should be needed so.

Then of course there is to see how I can also integrate the use of all RED QP with your Shoulder rig.

Either way as I said form the very first time you posted about it years ago and our first email communications I am interested in it, and will give it a try when possible.

Here is the little rig I have setup for my Blackmagic Shuttle for ProRes and DNxHD proxy recording:

This lets me have both a battery on the back of the Epic and then have the black magic. So Ketch I wouldn't be quite so quick to rule out a rear arm. I'm finding lots of little things to use it for even if I don't actually put a battery there. You could even hang a REDMote back there in a studio setup.

Hey Gavin , good adaption, there. The Titan can be transformed to work with 3d party gadgets as there are many different connection points, and make many configurations.
Even now after designing it I keep finding new ways to add stuff around.
Thank you for your video.and have fun with it.

and that's exactly my point, you have new possibilities, you use them in many ways.
great

Hey Ketch ,I my self am a very simple set up guy, I also use the Titan with short bones, and in a minimum set up.
the adaption of the red handles on the Titan is possible with a rosette adapter, I haven't made one yet but I think there might be one on the market.

I have used the Arri compatibility , as every 3d party company does, so one can use different arms if this is what he wants to do. Red rosettes are not compatible how ever.

We ll see what the future brings...

That is good indeed Gavin, but I however just don't want anything at all behind my back, unless it is flash to my back, no protruding elements however.

Good to know Constantine.

Ketch cool, I will just point out again cause I think you still don't see this correctly with an example.
You can have a battery, or anything else mounted on the back arm of the Titan, like Gavin add ons, and bring it directly in contact with the back of your Epic.

the 3 axis adjustability of all elements allow that. In the case of a battery plate for example the clearance in between your epic back and the battery plate would be 30mm.and that can also go down to 20mm with a flat knob.
that is way less than your descriptions on adding multible batteries directly at Epics back, and in fact if you are looking for a double battery plate, the set up of the arm and components can be adjusted so, one of the batteries will be in direct contact with your Epic back.
Then the only one thing you can do to bring this closer is to take your Epic to the nearest machine shop, and mill out its back :) kidding but that's how close it can be set to be.

So in other words Iam trying to explain to you that you can have a very short set up, or a longer set up, you can even rotate the arm so lw that you can take the battery down and behind your shoulder, and have a very low gravity rig.

best regards
