Adobe support...
Within a week, RED R3D files will open natively in CS3 Premiere Pro and After Effects.

I'm Cutting my next RED video on Premiere this will be interesting as I have not used premiere since 1.0 on the mack back when quicktime 1st came out
LOL!!!!

I'm a little confused on their pricing. Is it $2,000 for HD and better support? Or does the $575 Premiere plugin support those resolutions. (Guess I could email them, but I'm here and this community seems to know everything) :-)

Certainly seems like it would be a real boon to have a great CC solution with secondaries built right into a native R3D editor. Now we're talking about a good workflow.

I have questions. If RED R3D files will open natively in CS3 Premiere Pro, does this mean all the Creative Suite applications become available to Red? As in Photoshop and After Effects? Does this mean that basic ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) settings can be used with the Red files? Do the Red R3D files become Dng, Tiff or Psd? Is there a projected workflow with Red and Adobe posted? All of the Adobe blogs point back to reduser.

Please talk slowly if anyone wants to answer.
Thanks, Francis

Anyone know the Color vs. Colorista vs. Color Finesse answer? I want to be able to do as many secondaries as possible and track (of course).

" Is it $2,000 for HD and better support"

i believe that is for the stand alone application ..and the approx 500 price is for the plug in for AE/premiere ( beleive the plug in supports whatever the host can support )

Since Color Finesse will work with Premiere Pro, could we bypass After Effects and do all of our color work natively in Premiere Pro?

This would be F****G amazing

Some of the keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys will take more time to learn, but I made myself a little cheat-sheet and taped it to the bottom of my screen while playing around.

Maybe I'll be able shoot and cut together a silent movie this weekend to test the Premiere workflow. :whistling:

Hey Jeff,

You can set Premiere to use FFC shortcuts (or avid) if you want. Edit/keyboard customization. It might not match perfectly but its a start. Just got CS3 but have not had much time to play. I'd say that is about to change.

Yes, you can, Premiere will use 32 bit float to output your files (you have to check "USE MAXIMUM BIT DEPTH" though.

This will be a week long remembered...

First Red Ranch, and now this.

Yep, I'm aware of that. However, I prefer to learn each application with it's own set of keys. I guess that makes for more work and more things to remember, but it's a habit I've gotten myself into. This has been very useful over the years when I have to help clients on their systems and know all the standard keys to an application.

...I haven't given it any thought until now, but I'm surprised that I haven't had to deal with Premiere via a client in the past few years. Weird. With RED support coming online though, I know I will have to deal sooner or later.

I see your point.

It should be an easy transition for you. I think PP is the most intuitive of the three NLEs. I've used PP on the PC side for years. The tight integration of PP and AE is what I love most.

Have fun with it. Should be interesting times ahead.

Even though this looks awesome one important thing springs to mind; If .r3d will be imported through two separate plugins - PPro and AE - will that kind of import process result in non use of Adobes Dynamic Link features?
