  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe/SDK Update

they are still squishing bugs, it will be available here I am sure....stay tuned.
 
It'll be posted on the RED support page when it's available.

Currently we have some UI/workflow challenges to solve.

Would like to request an update or best guess knowing things might still change when you think we might see a first draft of the importer to test and give feedback.

We have resources that could be applied to testing heavily through the next week or two while prepping for a project.
 
The importer is looking good at the moment but we ran into unexpected issues with color/gamma that we're trying to figure out the best way to implement for the first release and how to grow that over future releases.

Rob is working his butt off right now to get it out asap.

I don't mean to sound pushy, so don't take this the wrong way... but it's been a while since this was announced. I know you guys at RED have a lot (and I mean a LOT!) on your plate, but I'm growing rather impatient waiting for this Adobe support. How much longer will it be? And again, not trying to be rude. Just growing impatient. Either way, I really appreciate all you guys are doing. Keep up the good work!

Deanan is it possible to request a another update this week on progress of the Adobe beta plugin knowing things may still change?
 
Rob's has requested that I don't talk about his butt.

Seriously, it's been back and fourth constantly with Adobe.
CS3 presents some challenges with raw workflows that we
are working on. There are also some bugs that are unacceptable for
both sides. However, alot of time has been spent recently and
we feel good that we now have some solutions to resolve the bugs.
Such is life in the high speed development lane.

We of course can take the normal software development route and
release at NAB. :)

I hope I didn't come off rude earlier. If I did, then I apologize. I'm just a little impatient... that's all. But in hindsight I shouldn't be because this company has taught me that the best things in life are well worth waiting for... like the RED One :biggrin:

I'm looking forward to the release.
 
Seriously, I don't see the need to push the development team, since they are busy dealing with issues.

I use After Effects all the time, and I rather have the importer be as problem free as possible. As it is, 4k in AE requires a good hardware setup, especially if a lot of filters get used.

I hope Adobe improves the batch rendering in AE CS4 as well as multi-processor support, it's always been a weak point to me (at least on the mac).
 
Deanan any chance of giving us a time frame. Will we see this before CS4 or are you holding it for that release? Thanks!

No timeframe at the moment as we have to finish the changes to improve performance.
