  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe Got Mugged.....

Getting closer and closer to getting off the grid.

Yeah Steve, this situation with CC and Dragon is JUST NEVER GOING TO WORK OUT FOR ME either! I bought one CC application Ae CC, because it has some fundamental differences from my CS6 Ae and I saw some value in it. No way on CC Pr though!

There should be a choice and I hope Adobe will eventually see the wisdom in a parallel, licensing and CC marketing strategy before they lose the professional market. Obviously they've listened to people who don't really understand what professionals and Hollywood requires. The hacking issue is just one more sad reminder!

Just to be clear, I wasn't responding to anything specific about Adobe. The decision to go to the Cloud is one they made in confidence and I'm waiting to see how it plays out. What I was referring to is general frustration with a lot of things from online security to social and political issues. I stopped going to CNNs website several weeks ago. Caused too much anxiety. Never felt good after visiting their site. Yet felt the need to check it all the time. It was weird.

I'm working on some video projects that will address some of this. Getting off the grid is nearly impossible but I do think there is a lot we can do to keep ourselves grounded.

and what were you editing on 3 2/3 years ago? it certainly could not handle 5K and more without transcoding could it? were do you expect to be 3 2/3 years from now?

Do you expect Premiere Pro CS6 will be unable to function in 3 2/3 years?

with native dragon editing I suspect it to not function currently:angry: lol... thats the reason i wrote adobe off entirely. i'm basically avid only currently

Haha I guess you make Mr. McClatchy's point in a way. I might have chosen a better example. Damn, less than a year and Premiere CS6 is already nearing irrelevant status. That doesn't engender much trust or good will, does it?

I don't cut on Adobe and if they stay true to the cloud only commitment I likely never will, but that is not the point really. That is why my editor of choice is irrelevant, but to answer his question I was cutting on FCP 6 up until my recent move to FCPX (Almost went Avid.) I tend to ride licenses as long as possible.

Historically, a perpetual license has just been a better value than a rental. Whether or not that holds true into our future remains to be seen, but with the current prices of editing softwares they don't need to hold value for more than a few months to ROI and beat Adobe's CC prices. With the kind of care and support coming from Adobe lately it isn't looking like such a good value even with all of that amazing capability and regardless of license. 2¢ worth of one guy's opinion

Wow....i paid full ticket for CS 5 suite (don't remember how much, but around a grand or more)
then i paid for the upgrade to CS 6 (again i don't recall how much that was)

....now i can't use CS 6 on footage i'll be shooting in a few months....For those that paid full fare for the CS editing suite, i feel like I got MUGGED.
....that said, Adobe sure did loose my confidence. I will vote with my $$ and stay away from their products as much as possible.

I'm sorry for wandering OT, but while reading Johnny's remark I have to wonder; Where is the outrage for Adobe pulling support on CS6? It was what, three months old when they did? Apple was taken to the woodshed (rightfully) for EOLing FCP7 and it was three years old at the time.

Adobe needs to support CS6 perpetual license holders for at least a year. They really should release Dragon support in CS6.

Since Adobe "allowed" for this security breach, I will not share my new credit/debit card with them at any time. So far I have no idea if they have improved anything.

After spending a few useless hours now with the support, I get no answers, nor any options.

I bought a Visa gift card to pay, but Adobe allows only for "Valid Thru" 2019. The Visa gift card is valid thru 2021. I get an error message if I try 2019.

I hope anyone from Adobe is here and get this "Valid Thru" set to 2021 in their system. My tip, avoid pull downs and let people type the four digits. ;o)

The support seams to ignore my upset (which I expressed colorfully to say the least), and is happy to have the "Valid Thru" sticking to 2019.

After 20 years using their great products, I'm nearly done -- not based on the applications, but on the way they do business now.

I use a lot of Adobe products... but their stuff always seems to be a huge security risk. Their tools aren't secure so I never had any expectation that they'd take their internal security any more seriously, which is why they never got my cc#.

Got the email the other day Fuck Adobe, never will give them any details ever again. Which is going to be a problem for a CC business model.

Corporately do they care about an individual no .....will they care about 3 million users feeling the same way....they should.

As unfortunate as this was with Adobe, it is not the first time something like this has happened, and it will not be the last, sad thing is that many, and I mean very many, will need to give new CC info to Adobe if they choose to stay up to date with their Software, as I am with Photoshosp CC, which is currently the only program I am using of them, since I did not felt the need to upgrade my Master suit, and using FCP-X and Resolve 10 for all my footage needs.

But I can not be without Photoshop, so I suggest any one in a similar position, to simply use a CC or better yet a Debit Card, linked to a purpose account, with only funds deposited there to cover their Internet purchases on a regular basis.

And remember... Not even your own BANK info is safe form your own BANK, as they too have been victim of the Internet, they just did never told you about it, and been as up front as Adobe did... ;)

My idea was to limit the risk with a Gift-Card. But these cards have long "valid thru" durations. So no luck so far.

A friend of mine connected me with someone at Adobe, and I have send in a screen-shot of the problem.
Lets cross the fingers that this will help. In the moment I can run the CC with gift cards -- I feel relatively safe again.

I have to admit, I should have bought through ToolFarm, and at least that kind of trouble would have been limited. Well, after "the event" it is easy to say for me.

Yes, most of the time I'm happy with CS6 and some of the CC apps I have not even opened, no need.

Adobe, please get a new support, this one isn't working, not at all.

Edit: I bought another "Gift-Card", and guess what, even I found one with an valid thru 05/2019, I get this message:

"We're sorry, something seems to be wrong on our end. Please try again later."

How fun is that game? CC, not my future I guess. /edit

Edit2: After some more efforts, finally one gift card was accepted. At least a step forward. But I feel a very bad after taste from the support experience./ edit2

FYI, the number is now 38 million customer accounts breached, not a mere 3 million...

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/10/29/adobe-cyberattack-idUSL1N0IJ26I20131029

"Adobe Systems Inc said on Tuesday that the scope of a cyber-security breach disclosed nearly a month ago was far bigger than initially reported, with attackers obtaining data on more than 38 million customer accounts. The software maker also said that hackers had stolen part of the source code to Photoshop editing software that is widely used by professional photographers."
