  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm going to Italy from 18th july to 22nd.
Short visit.

But the idea of hooking up with some fellow RedUsers one of the days, possibly the 20th i Florence have risen.

So who's in?

Grab a beer in Florence midweek (or another of those days) the week after next?
If someone brought a camera and something to shoot, it could even develop into something less than geeky...

So far the time & date is wednesday 20th Florence, but David B will come up with a bit more concrete stuff.

That's pretty precise, though... Remember I am from the deep forests of Norway! :-)

No idea yet if I will be in Trastevere -- a must have roman postcard you need to take away to your nordic forests, Gunleik, if/when you'll visit Rome :-)

Or stuck somewhere on the road from Venezia/Venice and Trieste to Croatia/Montenegro, a grand of kms away (a little bit more to south ;-)

Quite probably the latter or the first of the list as soon as I will be free to stay in Rome, those days I wish (August will be close then and I'd like to put some men to work inside and before the end of the month :)

I won't be comming to Rome this time, but it IS a lovely city and I might go there later.

I am a bit uncoordinated. Of course Ketchs lasagna should have been my first priority when planning this! :-)

But if I cannot have it now, there will be plenty of oportunities later!

I've sent out an email to a few folks. Wanted to also invite Luca Paolo and any other Italians who want to meet up here in Firenze.

Maybe we could plan something more formal in October.

Yes. If it can be planned far enough in advance we can maybe have a "Euromeet" in Toscana.

I'd be willing to help organize a conference of REDusers in Europe if anyone is interested in attending. IBC might seem like the natural place for this, but i think something away from all the noise might be interesting as well.

IBC sounds definitely like a great idea. David, are you based in Florence these days or are you travelling around the country? I'm mostly in Rome, sometimes I go visiting my friends in Siena during the weekends, it'd be great to meet you all!

(Ketch, I apologize for not having called you yet, shooting schedules are quite crazy, we have another week of nights starting tomorrow, but I'd love to meet you soon!).

I'm in Firenze all the time and often in or around Sienna. We might do something in Panzanno in a few weeks at Mac Dario.

Yes.

I was thinking of one of a few Agri tourism places I know of. It could be during the week or on a weekend. Not overly geeky, more focused on creating new models and figuring out how we can extend the community beyond the internet.

I think a lot of Red users I have met have a very similar spirit toward film making. I think bringing those minds together could be interesting.

The worst thing that could happen is we drink too much wine and eat toomany good meals and have a few great laughs.

Sounds pretty good.

Also maybe I could suggest a bunch of great idea but unfortunately I'll be back in Italy at end of September (La Biennale di Venezia).
