  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe + Epic Sneak!!!!

there is not such a thing as FCS3 People erroneously call it such but Officially apple does not call it FCS3. Just go to Apple's site and see for your self.

It was a FCS release but no version number so what would you call it? iFCS '09?

The no version number thing is a bit of a misconception. On the box they don't refer to it by version number, nor do they in marketing.

The instal disc however clearly states
Final Cut Studio
Version 3.0
So does the serial number sticker.

Thank you ! I thought so!

Now to un-hijack this thread... back to Adobe + EPIC sneak peak!

Great work getting this ready to go so fast! Great to see Adobe moving things along quickly and keeping the momentum up.

/* random useless comment about FCP, which by the way, is also an editing application, so this comment is relevant... */

Adobe vs Final Cut = :nads:

In four days, we will know. I think this NAB actually has more hidden goodies than last year's. Last year we all knew what was coming we just had to physically hold/see it. This year --------------all the players are playing the silence game. Except Avid of course.

Make sure you have the latest update to CS5. We added RMD support to ppro 5.0.3 and AE 10.0.1

I do have 5.0.3 and 10.0.1 so wonder whether have misunderstood something. What I mean is, assume you have a large number of R3D files on the PPro timeline, and you color grade the files in RedCine-X and then in RedCine-X you store the color grading of each R3D file into the corresponding RMD-file. Now, when you read the individual RMD files back into PPro, on each R3D file you have to hit the right button of the mouse, select "Source settings", click "Load RMD" and hit "OK". Instead of this, it would be handy if one could upload the RMD-file for every R3D-file in the timeline in one token.

PPro CS5

PPro CS5

Awesome for editing. However there are many problems with conforming on long format projects.

Does anyone at Adobe know if there is a command to reconform a certain clip?

I have had to deal with a lot of conforming issues where the only way to fix the audio glitch was by digging through the .caf folder and deleting it and waiting for it to reconform that clip.

It would be easier if there was a way to select the clip and tell PPro to reconform.

At times a .caf wasn't even made for the clip, this is another reason why it would be helpful to having a command to remake a .caf. The only option for that is replacing the clip and THEN Ppro reconforms it.

This is on on a scene or two might be ok, but on a feature its hell.

Info:
Footage from REDOne and RedMX.
Individual Scene Projects imported into main Full Length ppro project.
CS5. 5.0.3
Running off 2 6 TB Lacie HDs
Mac Pro QuadCore

Perhaps true but the unresolved question is which one is Apple and which one is Adobe.

The Green one is Adobe. They are kicking A** from screen writing to exhibition on almost every capable screen.

Ah... We went to add that feature but figured out how to do it. I am not in front of a machine with ppro right now. I think I posted instructions on how to do this with two clicks in the adobe workflow thread. If not ask me again after NAB.

Cheers

Dave

It sounds like quite a number of people out there are still on CS4 from what I've been reading on this and other boards. If you can afford the upgrade, I highly recommend CS5, it's leaps and bounds ahead of CS4 especially in terms of speed and the newish Roto Brush in After Effects is very handy in a pinch.

+1
It's pure speed & rock solid. They've got a super-solid platform now in CS5 PPro to build out from.

Dave,

CS5.5 is major disappointment to me in that there's NO 3D NATIVE
Premiere and AE ...

I am not happy about the upgrade fee for the 5.5 release either, not cool for those of us who
just bought CS5 Master Collection less than 12 months ago to work with Red footage...

I WILL instead switch to Apple FCP if they do native Red 3D stereo, and NOT upgrade CS5
(Do the math, not worth buying into Cineform + Adobe upgrade)...

I learned editing on Premiere years ago, then jumped ship, and you had me back last year,
only to possibly lose me again with this ...

You might want to provide that feedback to your development team...

It's funny, you see the new update as a bad thing, I'm stoked.
Expanded RED support
Native Epic support
Merge Clips, sub clips
Better Mercury engine support

I'm ugrading as soon as I possibly can. Apple Who?
