Hi,

First time post and first time using any RED workflow. I'm at home right now, so don't have all the exact details, but...

We have a FCP project, exported an xml and edl. We brought the xml into Crimson (trial version). Many of the clips didn't relink to teh R3d files, but appears that those ones are missing from the supplied drive.
So we click on the redcine page and export XML.

Is there something else we should do here to create "pointers"?

We import into RedCine and make DPX files.

In DS, I bring in the original edl from FCP (Is this the right one?) and copy the DPX to the right location, but the DPX do do not tink to the timeline in DS.

Also, I can link to the dpx but do not get realtime playback. This is because, although my frame size matches what I selected in Red Cine, the dpx files seem to have blac, top and bottom outside the frame.

So, for trouble shooting.... Where do I start?

Thanks
Dec

We would like to use the same workflow. Did you ever get it working?

I would use Monkey to create DPX and mathing directories for the reel ID. In DS open the EDL and conform to altnernate source using directory as source and you should be good to go. Check the DS User Guide for DPX conform.

Thanks. Will this work with DS 8.4 or do we need version 10?

Should work with 8.4, but I am not sure. I would do a short test.

quick question:

we have DPX files and we're bringing in an OMF of the cut.

We're having a bit of a hard time connecting to the sources.
I think that the editor used to 'create tape ID' option, which
probably shouldn't have happened. I'm used to the 'Batch Import'
function in the Nitris and am a bit iffy of the DS way of doing it.

any tips would be greatly appreciated.

this is my problem: there is no 'use alternate source' option available with AAF or AFE (or even OMF) imports.

That may be a v10 feature...

seems like a basic function to me.
I can't believe it didn't exist in previous versions.

There are lots of features that we can think of that should be in previous versions! ;)
