  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe- deblur tool.. DAMN

As long as Adobe doesn't start making phones, I think their products are going to continue to get better and better and more and more awesome.

A couple more interesting sneak peaks>>

I guess this one will benefit from as high resolution as possible>>

wonder what this would do to 3k debayer'd to 2.4k uprezzed to 4k then adobified?... interesting...

Now with Jobs gone, Adobe is destined to be the leader in new technology. Just imagine what they are working on THAT they are keeping quiet?

Jobs sent the message before he left town with FCP X. Logic Pro is next on the block. Apple is to be a mass marketer - not a vertical market pro app supplier. Adobe will take up the slack soon enough. In 3 years pro folks will be over the Apple/Jobs drama. Me = moving to Premiere soon.

I believe there will be more than just Apple keenly watching Adobe's progress. They have been making rock solid decisions for years, and soon their video post apps will just
as likely humble a few giants as their other apps have done.

I'm not sure how they fit into RED's intimate circle though. Anyone?

Well they gots the R3D codec native so they have shared a beer or two at the very least ; )

Yes, please no phones or devices. Make software, not consumer electronics. Some of us need to make content.

I was just suggesting this technology to help fix out of focus sections of footage. a take ruined by a focus buzz in the middle with a great performance could be saved by something like this. what adobe are getting right are the mechanics. the underlying technology. but what apple gets right is the interaction/interface. the amount of steps it takes to achieve something. the holy grail is to be able to tell an application what you want and have it carry out the task to remove the mundane aspects of that task.

if we got something like a combination of after effects and siri now that would be powerful. a lot of people don't want to learn to be programmers but want to alter and enhance their images. why can I tell an application rotoscope this object out of all frames. move this here. add this object here and blend. when adobe solves that, then they will be on fire

for instance red epics now have touch screens on the display. I should be able to touch the screen for the thing I want to be the brightest in the room and have the camera set exposure based on that object. I know its a little thing but it could save time. once we start thinking a long these lines then it starts to get useful and interesting. focus tracking is another

my hope is the technology they have developed to make these phones what they are will bleed into other software and other industries. like touch screen technology. voice technology. there is a lot can be done by sewing this stuff together if companies are willing to jump into the future

I'd love the digital equivalent of a steenback. a visual digital editing table for assembling edits. take away all the other nonsense that we don't need to know but are forced to know and let us be cutters. lets get back to using our hands on digital material to cut a digital virtual negative

That deconvolution tool is going to be fantastic. I hope they can get their new color suite done in time. Spring next year. Fingers crossed.

I just bought Pr. I can't wait to start using it. I am completely over FCP.

FCP 7 is still way faster to use at this point... unfortunately... Premier is still clunky and does silly things. Pity because it has all the coolest things going for it. But smooth it aint..

After effects on the other hand is bloody amazing.. Im knocking out some very heavy comps here right now, Im seriously impressed with it as a composite tool.. So so much quicker to use and FLAME and NUKE... So so under rated.

ADOBE are going to come out as clear winners out of all this.. what an amazing company.

Now if premier can just emulate FCP7's quick simple speed... I'd jump onto it tomorrow.

The Foundry has a pretty cool deblur algorithm although it's not as refined. The problem with all of these solutions is that they can kind of save a shot sometimes but are so artifacty that you wouldn't really want to use it as a final product. Lots of really useful applications--but has to be used pretty selectively since the output image is going to look really 'sharp'.

e.g. from Microsoft's paper: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/groups/ivm/imudeblurring/highres.html
