Looks interesting...

Editing 4k on a Macbook Air is quite a thrill. :-)

I am looking forward to putting this to the test with some projects coming up if I can get the server side up and running.

Nice

I remember Michael Cioni hinting at this technology during last decembers REDucation, though he made a point of not revealing which company was working on it.

Thrilling how workflows keep advancing these days! I read a scientific paper on digital cinema dated 2005 a few days ago. It felt like reading a historic document...

Great times, being a filmmaker!!

Does anyone know about the server infrastructure? Will it be hosted by Adobe? And are any information regarding pricing released yet?

1. No release date specified, other than "expected sometime in 2013."

2. This is going to be a private server - a facility purchases off-the-shelf hardware, installs the Adobe Anywhere for Video software, and (optional) ties in a media asset management system, and other production applications via a REST api.

3. No pricing information at this time. For more information, there's a contact link on this page: http://success.adobe.com/microsites/adobeanywhere.html

Im glad Adobe shifted their focus on Premiere and After Effects.
For awhile we lost them to the Flash side.
Here is another plus regarding Premiere.

I watched the demo video. Trying to figure out what the guy was saying at the end when describing their hardware configuration. "...and a fast (ambi-on?) media drive..."

I would love to future proof as much as possible on our new server setup, any info is very much appreciated.

I just spent a week at IBC demonstrating Adobe Anywhere, so feel free to ask me questions about specifics. If I don't know the answers, I can find them out for you.

> Lets see a project with 2000+ clips and multiple streams play that well.

Such a project would require no more or less network bandwidth than a project with one clip, since what is being streamed is the rendered result.

Todd - it's so awesome to have you here on Reduser!

I work at a big trailer house - we rely on teamwork to quickly turn around job-winning edits (usually competing against other editorial houses with the same footage!). Collaborative editing is our lifeblood.

At the moment, Avid Unity is pretty much the only way for us to work - so if an alternative opened up and brought new ideas, that is really interesting.

As you know, we have a big gfx team using After Effects every day - so increased integration with After Effects would be great.

However, we also depend on Maya, Cinema4D, Resolve... also After Effects is going in the wrong direction for us too so we are evaluating Nuke and Smoke.

At the moment... our general feeling is that Adobe gets 80% there with the implementation... makes a tool that looks great in the marketing and works well for simple tasks, but then bites you hard when you need to do that last high-end thing.

We're basically still trying to figure out whether Adobe really is targeting us or just the more low-end folks.

I guess it just comes down to where Adobe wants to evolve the tools?

This would be quite thrilling to edit this way. However, I barely get smooth playback on my own computer, let alone over a network. I really am wondering what kind of minimum system specs you need to really to get the same results as what was in the demo video. Including minimum download speeds... even Youtube hasn't been playing very smoothly at my house for a while. It could be Youtube, but constant internet download speeds is kind of an oxymoron here -- and I'm paying for premium service.

Has anyone used this that can confirm a working setup?

Well I sure hope people don't think this is a Unity/Network replacement.

Don't take this as any sort of negative response. Our company and the core team of producers/editors within it are competent within all NLE's and most standard post-production workflows outside of our own. Personally, I absolutely welcome any potential direct competitor to an Avid Unity based system. We would all benefit from such an endeavor. In my opinion, Adobe has been extremely receptive to industry needs. If the kind of rapid development we have seen in CS6 continues into local+remote team workflows, then I think Adobe Anywhere has very serious potential. I hope to try it out soon and throw the kitchen sink at it.
