  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe Announces Support for Mysterium X

I have to say this again, having Adobe so active on the boards is just amazing. We're used to it now with RED, but now with Adobe (Avid is great about this too! Michael IP is wonderfully helpful).

To Mr. Adobe People... Many have said that Premiere is not yet a Pro App.. Because of it's lack of TimeCode support, and some audio sync ability.

Do you agree with this (No I'm not asking you to agree that you do not have a pro app.. :)

I guess, what I am looking for is this: What features do you think are still needed to really take Premiere over the top?

Also, a lot of people tell me that older editing systems have to much "legacy code" that it's very hard to update it around the mess that's in there. I believe there's even a Rumor that FCP is trying to re-write their package from the ground up to fix this.

Is this also a challenge with Premiere, do you agree? Looking for a feel of where you think you are, and where you want to be in the next year or two.

Hi All Red Users!

I am happy to announce that we have a new plugin available for Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5. We now support Mysterium X and the latest Color Science. This includes new user interface support for flut, shadows and new color spaces.

There are also a bunch of bug fixes and other enhancements. We worked very closely with RED on this release and we are continuing to work closely with RED.

We are very excited to be able to get this update to you so soon after a major release. We have lots of exciting RED changes planned for the future so stay tuned.

The plugins are available here:

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/red3importer.html

PLEASE PLEASE read the installation instructions carefully.

Much more info on the post is here:

Well Besides the fact that I just Love the Adobe Photoshop app, and with Cs5 I'm just simply blown out of the water, literally, and the fact that even so I love Apple's product, (they made me quite mad about their Flash BS) I think it is safe to say that if something from them does not happen soon, like June 7 soon, I will be moving full speed ahed to Adobe, with a Production Premium or Master Collection.. just would sure be great if Adobe would give me and my fellow Redusers a chance to do the switch over or just simply become Adobe's customer, via a one time offer for a discounted "GROUP BUY"

So let me know if possible David and I will set it up! ;~)

After Effects is definitely used quite a bit for stereoscopic, not because it has many specific stereoscopic features (really just a few). It's strengths derive mostly out of it's pure flexibility. 3d compositing space, virtual camera rigs, etc make it possible to recreate the real world setup inside After Effects. Yes, you can bring in left and right eye footage and preview it. (only anaglyph at the moment). The tutorials and resources on the web are the best way to understand the best practices in AE. There are a few AE scripts out there to ease the setup.

We are planning for more specific stereoscopic support, but it's too early to say what we'll be shipping in the future or when. By all means, let us know what you want though. It's a work in progress.

Wow, glad to see you on here Michael. For anyone who doesn't know Michael, he's a good guy and it's great to see him taking part in these discussions as it will no doubt lead to even more advances in the RED/Adobe world.

The audio sync issue will be solved by Adobe, I'm sure. They support pro audio files already, and it can't be so hard to read (and use) the TC too.

Until then there's PluralEyes from Singular. They are working on a Premiere version, the beta is already on their site. The product is great, we synced a theatre event with it in FCP.

For anyone curious, here's the Source Settings interface for the new RedColor/RedGamma Adobe plugin (click for full size version):

It's really a case of shoot, copy, edit with no effort at all.

Editing online with 4.5K footage, no transcoding necessary, with full colour space and Mysterium-X support, hardware accelerated playback, cross-platform on both PCs and Macs.... FCP who?!

All that remains is a white balance picker, histogram to make sure we aren't going over, RMD support, and a means of zooming the Source Settings window to 100% to preview the sharpness/noise reduction settings and we are DONE!!

Kick ass work Adobe; I am proud to have been on the beta team helping to bring this to market!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul

Agree it's great to see Adobe stepping up and frequenting the forum.

Wasn't the other gripe about Adobe editing that it choked on long form projects with many clips and edits?

Ciao,
Nick

Count me in as well. I'm a CS4 user and will be upgrading to 5. The only chink in the armour at this point for me is a really kick ass integrated colour/grading plug-in, which looks like its being resolved. Too little, too late for Final Cut.

Cool guys, I think that we can definitely get a good number of Redusers in the Adobe Group buy, hoping that David can get Adobe to make this one time offering to our community, and give us a good discount, so to make the move less painful especially for those that are heavily invested in FCP with Plug ins and all, like Meryem.

I worked with the program all yesterday- still very impressed.

David- is there anyway that the source setting menu can just be open all the time and then docked? That way it is instantly accessible.
Sort of like RedCine X...

Let's not forget RED Rocket support :)

Yes, sorry that slipped my mind! Though it slipped my mind mostly because with my current PC I'm essentially playing back 1/2 real time 4.5K footage so for me it's no longer essential (though it would be really nice when it comes to rendering out the final footage).

Cheers!

Another game changer, without a doubt...

Another game changer, without a doubt...

We just started looking at adding this support... Will most likely show up in the future...

Cheers

Dave

Dave,

If you implement this, our workflow will be probably reduced by more than 50%! So, please, as a business-to-business request, this must be part of the top 5 areas to tacke, so we hope this is in the imminente future. This will be another huge game changer...!!! :yikes:

With great excitement,

Premiere Pro was a ground up rewrite... The code is in pretty good shape which is why we continue to make such strides...

Yes we know we need better timecode and are actively working on more timecode and sync audio support.

We are basically listening to our users and providing them the features you want. There are great ideas on this board and you will see some more results soon enough...

We are trying to see if we can do something like this in the future... Agree it is a good idea...

I was just wondering... with that idea of the group buy in mind, what is the price aproximately of the adobe cs5 program?

Sorry for the ignorance, which is not bliss at all.

ppro by itself is $799 and production premium (AE, ppro, encore, photoshop, plus more) $1699
