do all adjustments made in rcx carry over into fcpx? if i use adjustments in rcx that aren't available in fcpx they do not seem to show up in fcpx? any ideas?

i am aware of how the adjustments can be applied from within either app....but the plug in in fcpx does not allow me to adjust curves or lift/gain/gamma....so these adjustments (from rcx) don't seem to carry over when i open the clips in fcpx ...They do as long as you had an RMD file inside the RDC folder to begin with from the time you imported your R3D file into FCPX.
That is how they link back and fourth.

so all these settings aren't raw adjustments? what about alchemy and film look sliders? i don't see any of these adjustments applied in files opened in fcpx?Curves, l/g/g/, etc. are applied to the image after conversion to RGB. This metadata doesn't translate to FCP X. Only the metadata specific to the raw settings. If you are doing that level of correction in RCXP, then you are better off rendering ProRes and bringing "baked" media into FCP X.

That's not true. I just did a quick test and FCPX definitely sees the curves adjustment. I guess some playing around to see which parameters get sent through is in order but it is more than the set which is presented to you in FCPX itself.
Cheers, Hywel.
Before you ever open a project / event / .R3D file in FCPX - You must first open the .R3D in RCX and save a .RMD file.
Once this .RMD file is saved Both RCX and FCPX will both be 'pointing' at the same file & changes - So any and all adjustments made in either program will show up in the other.
If you don't do this step first; then you will end up with an .RMD file that FCPX creates & that RCX doesn't 'see' & can't access. So any later changes in RCX won't be seen by FCPX (not sure if that is described correctly)...
Just remember to first open all RED files in RCX and save and .RMD
. Open Redcine-X Pro and find all of your media. Add it to a bin. Select all of your clips and Right Click them. Select "Save RMD".
2. Import your RED footage into FCPX. All changes you now make to your R3D's in RCX will now update automatically in FCPX.
no proxies in either....the problem is that it is completely obvious that the adjustments i have made do not translate over....Are using / making proxies in FCPX or .R3D native? Have you tried making HUUUUUGE bad adjustments to see how they show up?
Wasn't my video by the way - just to 15 seconds on Youtube to do a search… It's a wealth of info by the way.
thanks...yes...un-checking those boxes makes the footage look like it does in fcpx....this is unfortunate.....Film look adjustments like alchemy are plugins that will not work in external editors.

i try to do as many adjustments in rcpx as possible...because that is where i pull my stills....
thanks for clearing this up....
It's amazing the RED includes these plugins for free in Redcine. But it would be great if they were available within FCP or Premiere, even if you had to pay for them. Although, Davinci is where it's at anyway.
like i said: the important part of the workflow for me is the pulling of the stills and making sure that the color is consistent between stills and video....so whatever i bring into fcpx pretty much stays that way....alchemy is a nice one slider fix but i can tweak curves and contrast to get the same look....i can add grain in fcpx so that is not an issue either.....now that i actually know for sure that these adjustments do not carry over, i can work with that information instead of banging my head against the wall.....It's amazing the RED includes these plugins for free in Redcine.
