Adjusted Delivery Schedule...

Correction, I did get the email, but it went right to my SPAM folder. Could this be a scammer? It's a weird email.. It just states the obvious and nothing else.

That e-mail (the e-mail I got anyway) was sent from an unresolvable IP address (58.247.211.99), which might be the reason it ended up in your spam folder. It was sent from a machine called Nicole on the Postfix server called "Hong". Must be their SMTP server... However - I don't see how anyone could have guessed my e-mail address AND reservation number, so maybe someone just triggered a script by accident that had been used to send out serial numbers to those of us that ordered after NAB 07.

Since I haven't heard differently I'm still expecting my RED some time during April. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up locally when I'm in the US for NAB.

I got the same email. The IP address seems to be located in Shanghai, not that that means anything in itself, I seem to recall Jim saying sometime back, that the website was being authored in China.

I wondered if this email precedes an online delivery timeline tool on red.com.

It says:

XXX -

You now have an official RED Camera Serial Number(s). This number allows you to see where you fall on the delivery schedule timeline.

Your RED Camera Serial Number(s): XXX

Thanks,
-RED SWAT Team

I thought that my serial number was official since october 6 2006. BTW, that email gave me goose bumps...

I just got this. Methinks it may not be legit as, the few, emails I've received from RED tend to have a personalized signature. It is also stating something that I have known since placing my reservation way back on 2006, pasted below:

"You now have an official RED Camera Serial Number(s). This number allows you to see where you fall on the delivery schedule timeline.

Your RED Camera Serial Number(s): 954

Thanks,
-RED SWAT Team"

Is this a legit mail from RED?
Cheers,
Mark.

Despite the odd IP addresses in the header I am tempted to think it is legit. The sender has a database of email addresses tied to camera serial numbers The images are all sourced from red.com in a directory labelled prepare_delivery and I can't see that the sender would gain much by sending out this mail if it wasn't genuine.

I for one have changed emails and I think there must be more. Perhaps they sending the email out so that anyone who doesn't receive it won't get any notifications and should maybe contact Red regarding not having the correct email on book. Has anyone contact Red about the emails yet and asked them if they are genuine?

Paul

It´s 3 am monday morning in REDland at the moment...

I can see no reason to doubt this mail, which just confirms that you are in the database (I got it too).

I don't care because I have got the " R " with marked serial number. Noone can steal my " RED " one.
