  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hello RED/"Steadicam" - Users.

I am in the process of creating a special "Red" configuration of our stabilizer system "Actioncam". I would like to ask Red users that use stabilizing systems or plan to in the future, if they would like to be able to use the RED LCD and RED Bricks with there system or if you would prefer to have a seperate monitor and batteries for the job. Also will you prefer to use primes or more heavy zoom lens.

I would like to use RED LCD and batteries. Only if you can offer 1080p LCD, 12-14 inches I would consider it. Thanks for asking.
 
I thought about Sachtler´s Artemis DV Pro or Tiffen´s Archer SE, but the exact two things you mentioned ( inability to use Red LCD & Batteries ) disracted me a bit. Would be great being able to use Red stuff on a Steadicam device.

I know this is pretty old, but I just found it. Brian are you still around? How's the RED edition coming? I'm an interested party... :wink:

I'd be interested in using the RED LCD and batteries as well, but there are times I'd want to mount the LCD on the cam itself instead of the sled. Looking at your specs, I think the weight would be ok, but is there a way to counterbalance the sled properly in that configuration?

I'll mostly be using heavier zooms instead of primes.

Not because of backorders though. Brian just emailed me and said they're basically ready to ship now, just waiting on longer cables from RED.

If you are going to have a product we can look at in New York, I know a few that are in the market and looking and considering Steadycams etc.

Also, what prevents the battery mount and monitor from rotating relative to the stage?

You must be joking. The action cam rig is one of the best steadycams out there period. You get a lot of bang for the buck.

I wouldn't buy anything else. Of course I'm swiss and actioncam is a swiss brand but it's realy great to work with.

I'm sure Gibby will love it.

We've had the ActionCam RED for over a month now. The build of the rig is exceptional...something you would expect from Swiss manufacturing. Our impressions of it so far? The ActionCam RED seriously rocks. It's price is well below comparable stabilization units.

Bottom line: If you need to fly a RED One, ActionCam RED is an excellent addition to your RED One camera kit. Initial impression = It's well made, operates smoothly, and is priced very competitively.

More details later this month or early November, along with pics and samples. The unit will also be flown at LART (end of October). We have some stabilization unit experts on the LART team. Results and impressions will be posted along with the other LART findings.

The ActionCam is not a new product. ActionProducts (maker of the ActionCam) is based in Switzerland, and has been operating for some time now (since 1995 I believe). I don't think there are any legal issues to worry about.
