Hi, everybody, so Newsshooter posted an MTF test article on the Achtel 9x7 camera that compares it to the Sony Venice 2, RED Raptor, BMD Ursa 12K, and Arri Alexa cameras. I was surprised at the results with the URSA 12K, I think something must have been off because technically it should have scored much higher by all accounts. However, all of the cameras basically failed compared to the Achtel 9x7's 18K image! If I wasn't already interested in the Achtel 9x7, I definitely am now and I have an idea for making a great use case for it. The only thing that will be killer is the storage budget, yikes!

No Low Pass filter = not equal playing field when it comes to this particular measurement. Ideally it would have been compared to V-Raptor 8K S35 without a Low Pass Filter as that's more apples to apples concept in terms of pixel pitch.

But at it's pure level, the gPixel sensor is higher resolution and a smaller pixel pitch. It is a 9344x7000, 65.4 megapixel sensor. So it "should win" in a real side by side, but not by the mega margin suggested.

At 18K upscale/special demosaic there are artifacts however, the women's eyelashes for instance. You'll have to discover if that is a problem for you, as is the journey of making small things bigger. I'm still getting vertical streaks here and there as well, but it's fixable if you know what you're doing.

At a higher level people have been tinkering with 8K to go to 16K and 24K as of late.
