Hello,

I have a question about installing the Speedmount EF that I don't see in the instruction manual.

I have the Weapon Magnesium with the S35 6K Dragon sensor.

In the manual, it's not written that I have to take the black rubber wich is behind the RED OLPF off the camera. With it I can't put the Speed OLPF.

Is it normal that the Speed OLPF protrude as much as this?

This is the Red OLPF

I can't screw the mount as it seems there isn't enough space behind the Speedmount. The Speed OLPF doesn't insert more than what is seen in the picture, so the Speedmount can't be mounted.

It touches this piece of glass.

What am I doing wrong?

Is it due to the sensor postion (backfocus) beeing off? Too far in front? I've mooved it to ajust for the Revolva mount backfocus.

Pat

Hi Pat,
you don't have to take the rubber ring off to mount the SpeedMount OLPF. It is normal that the OLPF has to be slightly pushed into the camera to squeeze the rubber a little bit. But it definitively shouldn't touch the sensor protection glass.
Can you adjust the back focus? We never had the issue before.
We don't have a DSMC2 Dragon 6k to test it, but I will ask Alfred at Xinegear who currently has a demo unit to try it on a Dragon 6k. But afaik all DSMC2 bodies should have the same dimensions.

Hello David,

I'm afraid it's a no go for my Weapon MG Dragon... I've tested to "screw back" the sensor back focus and it's visibly not moving back enough to clear the space. I suspect it's due to this piece of glass wich is behind the OLPF and that's not present on Helium nor Gemini? Or perhaps it's 2mm closer to the sensor than on the Dragon ?...

I'll message tomorrow our technical contact at RED. Also I'll send you by mail the specs of our OLPF. If possible, please measure your unit. Maybe your OLPF unit has a production error.

Do you mean the Speed OLPF unit or the Camera mount?

Here are the two OLPF

Tell me wich measure you would like me to perform. (Thikness of the Speed OLPF or depth of the mount to the protective glass?)

Is it due to the Dragon sensor optical path?

No, it seems to be a mechanical issue with the Dragon 6k sensor (Scarlet-W with Dragon 5k works fine). Somehow the Dragon 6k sensor seems to have a thicker glass element in front of the sensor.

I contacted RED and will post here as soon as I get an update.
