  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A taste...

This is sexy. Very, good looking stuff as usual. But IMO if you really want to get the party started, or warmed up for the 13 you might think about dropping a little hint about any one of the main specs.
Personally, all I want to know is how many stops of dynamic range I'll be able to capture with Scarlet.. will it be the same as build 16? Not the same? :innocent:

What if Scarlet and Epic share the same modular design platform? With model-specific module variables as unique distinguishing features between each other? You know... lens mount module, sensor module, CPU-GPU-I/O module... that sort of thing. Wouldn't that be consistent with the system upgradability and extensibility mantra? And simplify or streamline development/production/tooling routines on the manufacturing end? Making it relatively "easier" to bring new product alternatives or extensions to market quickly without having to redesign an entire new platform around each and every significant development coming out of R&D?

looks like a handle from this angle... but could be a monitor articulation... though the monitor would have to look like a handle... or it is Epic and this is an EVF?

You stole the words right out of my mouth. I think that's a handle in the bottom left.

what will disappoint 70% of the geek is that if scarlet came out with a fixed lens... :-( ... I hope.. I hope ... I hope ... NOT ...
don't care about sensor size or frame rate.. that's all comparable to other camera's.. at least EX3 comes with interchangable lens mount ..

All this excitement can also crush some of the stupid ass requests people are asking for in a $3k camera. I don't know shit about building a camera but I can't see it being possible with adding all these features with swapping mounts. But then again there is 4k for $17,500

Thanks for pic JIM! Maybe one more...?

J/K I'll hang tight until the 13th...

If Scarlet stays 2/3" - fixed lens is way to go. Interchangeable lenses would only make sense with S35/F35 sensor...

I am going to be happy either way...

:)

I think most would agree that if Scarlet were to stay the same as original, that it would still be a steal, but come on lets be honest and admit that we and most likely Jim, would want more. We don't have to hold back anymore. Scarlet has changed, so who wouldn't think it will have bigger sensor or at least interchangeable lens.

If it is still the same size sensor the lens mount could be C-Mount or IMS, Ikonoscope A-cam II proved it can work, even with PL Mount also. If it is a bigger size sensor like FF35mm like D-90/Canon Mark II, Red would make it better. Red can make lenses with whatever size it wants and be good, with lower prices, than the competition. I don't think Red will hold back tech/price because of RedOne. RedOne was the first but not the only or last. Why would Jim say Scarlet has changed and it is the same? Only Red and time will tell. :w00t:

I am going to be happy either way... also!:)

Dear Jim, I really hope You get away with the shiny look and opt for matte anodized finish instead. That would be the only request I would have... :)

When did we ever make anything "shiny"? Just curious...

Jim

It would be interesting if all these sneak peaks are just fake rendered photos to throw us off.

JARRED in front of a screen. We see the label "4K RED

JARRED
So, is this close-up close enough?

BOLD GUY
I dont know. Those guys are geeks.
Have you seen these 3D reconstructions?

JARRED
There is no way, they figure it out
from this.

BOLD GUY
True. But you know Mark. He likes
to spill the beans.

JARRED
We have him covered. Or not?

Pause.

BOLD GUY
You never know. Explain me this
