I know I'm not the best person to give advice, specially to RED, however I guess most of the over-analyzing, nitpicking and what not comes from the combination of two facts.

The first one is ignorance, I'm not offending anyone, I'm just saying not everyone is completely aware of all the processes it takes to something being developed, so people take the example of demonstrated technology as final.

In my opinion, the second one exists circumstantially. No other camera manufacturer shows Work In Progress and when RED does it, people must assume that is what is going to get released.

I think people end up understanding the statement "Everything subject to change... Count on it." only in the worst connotation of it, i.e. delays and price changes. :biggrin5:

In my opinion a simple disclaimer (written on threads and images and/or a screen before videos) like "Work In Progress, material not suited for analysis and does not reflect the final state of development" or something, would help wonders to stop the spread of FUD.

Just saying because I along with every other people in this forum are here because we love witnessing the development of RED technologies.

well said Pietro, WELL SAID

I agree 1000% ... I don't think Red wants a bunch of drones to just agree to everything and say "wow!" to every post Jim or Jared make .... however, it's clear there's some frustration as some individuals abuse their generous practice of transparency. Notice how people like Steve, Ketch, Jeff or others close to Red ask questions about the camera, or features -- it's constructive and helps everyone. But some seem to be trying to pick holes and find "flaws" in things that are not supposed to be perfect at this point. It's a small % but it just takes "one rotten apple to spoil the bunch" .... or in this case, to create a myth like the overheating example Jim gave. Or BS about "skin tones" or whatever. Red cannot afford to have it's reputation tarnished -- those misconceptions are very hard to shed. Which makes me (and I bet a lot of other users) sad because the transparency and sharing that takes place here is truly unprecedented and part of why Red is redefining what is "cutting edge."

I just hope people can chill and -- if they have reasonable concerns or questions -- raise them in a respectful way just like many of the most experienced members of this forum do. There's a reason why guys like Mark, Steve, Ketch, Dino, etc are in the Epic-M boat ... because they know the deal and understand what it takes to truly serve Red and this community. Let's learn from their example and keep things as respectful/constructive as possible going forward ....

Very well said, Pietro and Anthony.

I agree, RED has taken transparency to a whole other level. I don't think most people understand just how incredible their communication is. However, this is the entire base of their problem. People will always criticize what is made available to them. I'm a tremendous fan of the transparency, and I hope RED continues with it, but they have to know that they can't have it both ways.

I like this idea. Perhaps a window burn with the disclaimer.

It is extremely annoying because rarely do we get a chance to follow a process like this (it never happens) and its a great learning experience. Some of have followed this from the start and feel fortunate that we have been able to share the experience and have been treated by so much equality and respect in the process. It really feels like sharing the experience with a friend because we see the hopes and dreams, we see the obstacles, we see a transparent process.

It is so sad to see consumers who have been trained to complain in order to get what they want come into this environment and wear it down by thinking they are doing good for everyone. I really don't know if there is an answer. Some part of me thinks the honeymoon is over. Some part of me thinks Jim will never change (cause that is the way he is).

Either way, an experience i will never forget and deeply indebted to. I feel here on these pages is the future of company>consumer relations where Branson's tag line "the customer is always right" does not ring so true. It is a relationship and like all relationships must be maintained with a fine balance of respect for the other and pushing boundaries that allow us to grow for the better. It's not just about a money exchange. That is just a signifier for something else that is being exchanged.

Also it is up to a community to self govern. People need to be educated and if they are rude they need to be put in their place> and early before things get out of control.

The other thing is the level of seriousness. Relax people. Enjoy the ride.

That's my 2 cents (excuse the pun)
