OK, the competition has forced me to do this...
Full RED kit with tripod, handheld rig and steadicam w/operator, an assortment of lenses, including a Cooke 18-100mm zoom and a full set of Arri UltraPrimes.
$250/day $700/week. $2000/month
DISCLAIMER: This offer only valid on the sixth tuesday of every month and must be redeemed at your momma's house from the Easter Bunny. Additional 10% discount if you can answer the Tooth Fairy's trivia question of the day.
I focus on services and production value and rarely ever make an issue over what equipment is used. People hire me/my company and it's at my discretion which equipment I use to get the job done.
Zakaree, does your time travel add-on work for the 13th of November?
I might be interested.
After looking into these scary-low rates I noticed the REDOne here in Vancouver that is listed at $350/day is (from the pacific northwest) US funds (not that makes it really any better) but day rates for long term aren't calculated in the traditional 3 day week charge. Seems they may be listing in a number of cities in Canada and the US and it's not necessairily in town.
I contacted the user that posted for $299/day just to clarify what that actually includes. Not that he/she has to respond to me, but I'd like to know "what's the catch"?!
The funny thing about all this kvetching from Vancouver about people cutting their prices, is that Vancouver's entire production structure is based on beating the prices from LA and encouraging runaway production from the US. Live by the sword, die by the sword...
Totally random out of the blue thought:
With the RED One camera body costing something close to a Digibeta/XDCam/low-cost HDCam body, shouldn't it's rental price reflect this?
I see rental prices of basic kits over here at £350 ($550ish - body, production pack, 18-50 lens, drive and cards) without operator and to me that doesn't seem cheap - to me that is reflecting the RED One price point to buy.
Also, doesn't a low rental rate go hand in hand with the RED philosophy of high quality at a low cost?
Hi,
That's very true but many early adopters were expecting to me millionaires within a few months. The reality of the rental camera business is slowly hitting home.

Hi, Guys, can someone forward me the link to this ad? Because the package listed here, whoever posted it, is my package, and the Oconnor head and dolly is my friend's. I know this is because it is the exact wording and format (I am talking about literally copy and paste) how I send my equipment list to prospect clients (also I have an ad with the same list posted on cineworks' website) . This ad is fake as I am sure no one here in Vancouver would have EXACTLY the same package, and by the way I rent my package out for $1200 CAD a day without the dolly and Oconnor head.
I've just saw this post and went on to craigslists but was unable to find the listing, but if the listing is still there, I have to warn whoever is in vancouver that this listing is extermely fishy, unless he has the exact same package as I do and just too busy typing up the list himself that he has to copy and paste my list.
Sincerely
