  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A few new things...

there is an additional monitor port on the PRO-IO module if you want everything going backwards with no side module.

Amazing!!!

Also for 64GB CF card!!!

The card is available after NAB or later....???

The more we get to see and hear about it the more it becomes evident that all goals were met, exceeded, or replaced by new and more forward-thinking goals.

RED has obviously become a well oiled machine. People talk about Apple stock and I can't help to think, f'that! I want RED stock!

Wonder what will be next. We all know to expect higher specs, DR, noise, etc... but with all this creativity there should be several surprises in the pipe for the post-NAB '10 period.

The way I see it, this is the camera that people used to talk about about in DVXuser, back in the months leading up to the HVX. Probably more so in the times that came after that, when a few affordable cameras were on the market along with a few DoF adapters. Each camera/adapter had something special about it, yet none had it all.

Everyone's imagination ran wild talking about how this "perfect" camera would be... Those who said RAW were laughed at!!

And now, that hypothetical perfect camera would seem like a complete POS compared to this real camera. The boys at RED sure can dream, and deliver!

Times they are a-Changin'.

as you know we take media pretty seriously, so Deanan still has a few more rounds of testing before production, which means a summer release.

There will be no 32GB CF cards... we skipped right to the 64s.

Gotta say, there are some nice shapes forming on these cameras.
Really like the 'Buck Rodgers' cowling over the fan exhaust, and the monitor jack bulging out from the signature ribs.
Looks like there is a little extra bump/light protection around the front of the LCD too?

Damn Jarred, I can't wait to see what you hit us with on Alexa's launch day given what you have previewed so far.

We will respectfully let Alexa have her big coming-out day tomorrow uninterrupted... :)

I keep seeing this vent on top, what would happen if you where caught in a down pour? would that just flood inside the camera, or is there some design to stop that?

You would of course always, like any camera try to keep it dry, but a big hole in the top would be a concern? Still it's better than the redone system that suffered a bit.

I like the fact the cables aren't coming out form the side of the camera anymore, and the LCD screen is recessed for protection.
