  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

8K Helium Anamorphic - Single Focus Solution

I haven’t used the hardcore DNA yet, but I’ve been very happy with this solution, even though it’s like the 2nd prototype and not the final build. Like most SF solutions, it does telescope out about 22mm when focusing.

The anamorphic scope of your choice is housed within and is either user replaceable or you can have the engineer do it for you. Currently it has a Schneider 2x scope inside. That, along with a Helios 44-2 taking lens on a Weapon Helium in 8K, it’s free and clear in widescreen (almost positive in 8kff as well but will need to confirm).

I’ve tried it with a 38 as well, and you do have some vignetting in all flavors of 8K. Even with car interior work, i still found the 44-2 wide enough since it’s anamorphic, it really widens things out.

Tnks Chris. This seems consistent with other solutions. When you have more info please share! Tnks

cant wait for this - love shooting on my Helios 44-2

Yea...and fortunately enough, that lens can be had for pretty cheap still. It's an amazing piece of glass for the price, and you really can't compete with that swirly bokeh, plus FULL FRAME coverage! Woot! Course, anamorphic widens things out anyways..hehe

You'd be surprised what one anamorphic solution can accomplish even with just a single taking lens. Just forces you to move the camera.

curious if this will support a Kowa B&H projection lens or even a Sankor 16C. The schneider is nice but for me personally it's a bit too clean. I've always enjoyed the Sankor or the Kowa B&H. Any info on what other projections it will support? Thanks Chris!

Best,

-John

It will support the various popular scopes out on be market, so those of you who don’t own a Schneider, can still use this.
