If you want a cosmetic upgrade to your existing 5K dragon-X, Aaron did a few tests with a "slightly-pain-in-the-ass-but-still-cheaper-than-replacing-the-part" option re-paint and re-engrave.. Should be about $150 if the 5k bothers you.. and looks pretty good. You can still see the outline if you zoom in really close of the old 5.. but under normal sight it's almost impossible to tell.

That's awesome, I'm totally happy with that. When it's time, I just have to figure out how to get my brain to you from London, UK.
 
@Jarred Land - Is is possible, with all the holidays and such, that we might have a Dragon-X 6K firmware before Christmas? Oh, and I am more than happy to beta test. :)
 
I would definitely upgrade my Scarlet-W given the chance!

Excuse my ignorance, but why isn't IPP2 available in-camera on the Weapon 6K, when it's a DSMC2 camera?

I may me wrong, but I think because IPP2 was released AFTER Weapon 6K.

Have to imagine it's a firmware and hardware thing.

Thats a really good question, The Weapon 6k Magnesium is a DSMC2 Camera body but then again so is the Scarlet W. Remember the Carbon Dragon 6k was once 50k and the Magnesium 30k and the Scarlet W 12.5k None of these bodies can do IPP2 with the exception of the Original Monstro DSMC2 - I would imagine the Weapon 6k Magnesium has internal boards that could handle IPP2 software but not at the current DSMC2 specs.....or maybe it can?

I believe you may be right, in that IPP2 was released *after* Weapon 6K, but does anyone know if this is actually due to a hardware limitation? I'm specifically referring to the Weapon 6K CF, which is higher in specs than the MG.

I'd really like to know the answer to this, especially with regards to the higher spec Weapon 6K CF, which is the DSMC2 system we have.

I always assumed IPP2 was a hardware thing for the cameras.

Keep in mind the Monstros came out AFTER IPP2 (right?), and I'm guessing CF brains that were upgraded to Monstro maybe had an IPP2 hardware upgrade installed too.

Basically, I always understood the Monstros to have the latest max "internals"...which now all cameras have under DSMC2 Unified (and all of these have IPP2 in-camera).

That sound right?
