  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

6K Dragon-X DSMC2 Petition!

We have the Monstro and a lot of time we are using it at 6K. I know it's a shame.
 
How about make new boards for every camera? From the RED One on, none of those are made of “unobtainium” and can’t be rebuilt. There’s just newer versions of the pieces that made those parts, RED has all the code to put on the processor chips and what voltages and capacitor types to use, just make new service boards and even if the charge is $1,500 for a single board, that’s perfectly fine compared to putting a perfectly good 4K/4.5K/5K/6K/8K sensor to rest well before its time. It would be too much to ask RED to make replacement sensors although they would be the only ones who could do it and since they have the MX and 6K Dragon streamlined at this point, it’s strange that we’re not seeing potentially lower cost RED cameras using those old but still very relevant sensors. Granted, RED does seem to be on the move to provide more expansion with the recent move to add CFast to Komodo and authorizing the new third-party 2TB drive for DSMC2 cameras so perhaps DSMC2 will see more of these later in life requests we’re clamoring for with pre-DSMC2 cameras.

the jump to 5K Dragon-X is not worth it to me. 120fps 6K-HD Dragon would be, but not at $5-6k. Sorry, it would have to be more around $3500 max.
I don't know if that is economically viable for RED to do, but that is where its at for me. If its more expensive I'll probably just keep making money on
the Scarlet-W and wait for whatever entry level camera DSMC3 will bring. Or switch to BMD if they follow the pursuit for LF... which everyone is.

Currently own a Scarlet Dragon and a Scarlet-W and decided not to upgrade to the Dragon-X 5K or Gemini for now...
If you make the Dragon-X 6K and we can upgrade both our cameras, it will make it a no brainer. We previously owned an Epic-M Dragon 6K and loved it.
 
Currently at 33 upgrade requests if we're counting the multiple cameras an owner wants to upgrade - 17 more to go!
 
+1 Raven owner! Hook us up with something!! I’ve been stuck on fixed EF, drowning to get out without taking a huge hit. We take care of RED, RED take care of us! Haha
