  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

6 CRAZY DAYS... 3 cities, 2 countries. EPIC's saved us.

Awesome stuff Mark. My favorite shot has got to be the waves revealing the Toyota on the beach, heck of a shot!

How many shots were switched out for the different markets?

Pretty much all the interiors and left hand right hand swaps.
Normal for global launch videos.
Wasn't as bad as other years though, when we have had over 16 different models on set for quick swap outs.

Great stuff Mark!!

Was this were you got the Heli shadowing on the car?

Yep, shooting in and out of clouds can be painful with exposure and shadows. Helps being in a heli, Easy enough to reposition yourself in seconds.

4 metre swell on the day, was cool flying lower than the waves.

Yep... your correct, it is rushed cinematography, But considering we had to shoot over 150 different shots over that time, (most not even in this particular version) I think we came out of it ok. :)
Happy client, thats the main thing.

Yeah, ah, for sure. Still excellent! Those shoots are all about execution and you obviously did a great job in that time frame.

Another amazing bit of Toia work for sure.

Toia magic produced yet once again, fantastic work! The ability to create these images under duress can not be understated. Glad to hear FCPX handled the challenge.

Love it Mark! Some amazing shoots. I also really like the shot from behind the waves back at the beach, intense!

This is the kind of work I dream of doing where my action sports/small fast one man band expertise can shine in this type of environment.

Awesome work as always Mark.

I just got back from Australia filming for a wakeboard short film and man its an awesome place.

Would be great if you could show the 30 sec version just to see which ones of all the shots that where kept in there.

Mark - were you shooting with a motion mount? I have been playing with mine on high motion car shots and it creates some very unique visualistic blurs which I thought I saw on a few of the heli shots.

I shoot wide open alot... sadly the Motion mount doesn't suite me. Due to the aberrations you talking about.

Wow I love this! Although the driving on the other side is freaking me out...I gotta download this and flip the video ;D haha. This must have been a blast (and a blur) looking back on it! Interesting that you shoot wide open, someone mentioned Canon glass is that what you used? If so I'm surprised by how clear it is! How did you like FCP X? Did you find it to be better for the job over Premiere Pro / Avid?

Brilliant stuff Mark, very inspiring. What sort of mounts do you use for car to car shots and chopper aerials? Thanks
