  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

sorry to go back to the flash sync question, is there some way to use the GPO tally output with some kind of adjustable delay ( ie to fire the flash on the next frame ) to sync a flash on the Red One ?

And Jim , after 10 successful months with the red One I still feel I haven't explored anywhere near what can be achieved Image wise. Thanks

I'm just curious about all this talk about shutters - why does a digital cinema camera actually need a shutter? Couldn't you just tell the sensor to collect light for a specific interval of time and then process the image instead of putting something mechanical in front of it?

Whats the status of those motion shots? I hate to be a pest, but I'd love to see what Frankie 2 can do.

Oh don't worry.. I'm here shooting away. Just can't fully export till we get a software update, and getting people to write stuff over the holidays isn't that easy.

If i knew how to write software, I would so do it for you over the holiday if it meant me getting a sneak peak of the first video footage of frankie 2. The sad part is I dont write software so I am of no help :(

yes. Had to give Frankie a bit of grip so he didnt go sliding off the table.

I can see why with that ginormous snarled umbical coming off the back of Frankie Sr.!

Incidentally, that underscores to me the enourmous amount of processing that's going on inside a RED One to deal with the sensor data...
 
Its got a stomp pad. Now all it needs is a wirecam mount so it can shred through valleys.

The very first external shoot we did with this Franky back last year was take it to a Skatepark... carts, computers, cables all over the place. running off car batteries. Scared some of the kids away.

Jim while I am not in engineering or development of any kind I am sure many of us share with me that little desire that comes and goes from time to time, a little craving for being part of the Red team carving out a new frontier... I like to make things prety, balanced... the same applies to making cameras I guess. Also it must be a heck of a lot of fun working for you man!

Hope your holiday wishes come true, it is only fair as you are making so many of ours come true, and you are only getting started. :gun:

So, I know, I know, I know you guys are working hard on it... but, maybe, is there an estimate to when we will see footage?
