  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

5K is alive...

Needs more duct tape.

Thanks very much for showing us this stuff. I can't imagine anybody like Canon or Sony showing off early prototype stuff like this.

If it's cheaper without the casing...I'll take that one! :)

Jim, you're posting this and right now my old Sony Z1 is still being sold at 4000 Euros plus VAT.
I caught you.
You invented a time machine by accident, went to the future, stole some revolutionary technology and came back just to have fun.
Or maybe it's just the opposite. The rest of the world is stuck in the past and time goes on regularly just at Red HQ ...

Glad I'm more active for this round of amazing development leaks. I'm very excited to see what more is to come.

Jim, I suppose thats just a test mounting rig for the hardware which can accommodate testing of all the new camera designs. Regardless, it looks cool and gives red a mean style. Would be quite intimidating to see that bad boy with your zoom on it. haha.

Happy camper here! After so long, finally we have eyes...and how sweet the sights! Thanks, Jim! :}

It's going to be really tough to tell the difference between the M-X sensor and the current M sensor at this point. As it stands now, there is a variety of R1 footage that looks vastly different from eachother due to lens choice, etc. - The still image of Milk Girls is still stunning today. My eyes hurt

Any chance of a 5K screenshot? Or perhaps more pics of the temporary setup?

Not today unfortunately ( 5K screenshots ).. The guys need to write a bit more Franky code to support full pixel output of the new resolutions.

If you take my word for it though, I can tell you it looks incredible on the monitor :)

I've always wondered why the milk girls footage and stills look sooooo good. Is it uncompressed maybe? Pre-redcode?

I'll take your word for it. Congratulations guys. Nice Christmas gift there.
